Feyenoord's Tim de Cler is determined to prove his worth to boss Mario Been against RKC.

Defender expected to earn rare start against RKC on Saturday

Feyenoord defender Tim de Cler is determined to use a rare opportunity in his club's first XI to prove his worth to manager Mario Been. The 30-year-old has struggled for regular football with the high-flying Rotherham outfit since Been arrived from NEC Nijmegen in the summer. However, De Cler is expected to be in the first XI for Saturday's Eredivisie visit of RKC Waalwijk due to the absence of Leroy Fer. The 16-time Holland international is therefore keen to produce a good display to convince Been of his abilities.

Quality

"I was forced to be patient for the past couple of weeks, but it looks like I will get the chance to prove my worth again this weekend. De Cler told Feyenoord's official website. "This is the perfect opportunity to convince the coach of my qualities. "The results this season have been quite good, so the coach didn't really have any reason to change his starting XI. I could do nothing but wait on injuries and suspensions. "I am not the type of player who is happy watching from the stands or the bench. I always want to be part of the starting XI. "However, it did help a bit that the results were good. If results were bad, it would have been harder to swallow."
