Kuffour gives Bayern World Club victory
Bayern Munich 1-0 Boca
Juniors
Samuel Kuffour scrambled home an extra-time winner as European champions Bayern Munich beat Argentina's Boca Juniors to lift the Toyota Cup. The Ghanian international pounced from point-blank range after Boca, who were reduced to 10 men, failed to clear a corner from substitute Ciriaco Sforza. And his solitary strike in the 20th minute of extra time settled an ill-tempered match, watched by 55,000 spectators, at Tokyo's National Stadium. Bayern missed a number of opportunities to capitalise on their numerical advantage in the second half of the World Club Championship. Boca striker Marcelo Delgado was sent off after receiving his second yellow card for diving in first-half stoppage time. Boca, last year's World Club Cup winners, wasted a clear-cut chance to open the scoring in the 30th minute. Guillermo Schelotto dispossessed Kuffour and fed Delgado, who contrived to miss his kick with just Kahn to beat from eight yards.
Bayern Munich: Kahn, Lizarazu, Robert Kovac, Kuffour, Sagnol, Sergio, Hargreaves, Fink, Niko Kovac, Elber, Pizarro. Subs: Jancker, Sforza, Thiam. Boca Juniors: Cordoba, Schiavi, Martinez, Burdisso, Rodriguez, Serna, Traverso, Villareal, Delgado, Barros Schelotto, Riquelme, Calvo. Subs: Calvo, Pinto, Carreno. Referee: Kim Nielsen (Denmark).
