Lucas Hedges, Born and Raised in Brooklyn Heights, Gets Buzz for Role in 'Manchester by the Sea'

19-year-old Hedges has been heralded as breakout star of the film for his role as Patrick, the nephew of Casey Affleck's character.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn Heights' very own Lucas Hedges has been hounded by awards buzz since the release of "Manchester by the Sea," a movie in which he plays a 16-year-old boy coping with the loss of his father as his uncle, played by Casey Affleck, becomes his guardian.

Hedges was born and raised in Brooklyn and grew up in Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Heights. He graduated from Saint Ann's School, a private, arts-based school on Pierrepont Street.

Hedges most recently won the Critics' Choice Award for best young actor for his role, Patrick, in "Manchester," and he's receiving Oscar buzz as well, the Brooklyn Eagle reported.
