| 内容記述 | 大学進学率が向上し、多様な学生を大学に受け入れるようになってきている。補正教育が重要な課題となるが、学生集団の中に、補正教育が必要な者と、直接大学レベルの教育を受けることが可能な者が混在する状況が生まれてくる。プレースメント・テストとは、多様な学生集団に対し、補正教育の必要性を判定するために必要なものである。ノースイースタン・イリノイ大学は、全米でも有数の人種的に多様な大学である。測定・テストセンターを設け、3種類のプレースメント・テスト、2種類の英語習熟度テストを実施している。入学直後に全員がプレースメント・テストを受験する。数学、英語のみが対象であり、教科の内容に踏み込まないのが特徴と言える。米国とわが国のテスト文化の違いを念頭に置くことが条件であるが、ノースイースタン・イリノイ大学の実践は参考になる部分が多い。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | According to the increasing enrolment rate in higher education, university campuses are getting more diverse. Remedial program is one of the most important issues in this situation. There are some students who need special programs before they take university level classes, however others do not. We need placements tests to identify the needs for remedial programs. Northeastern University has one of the most diverse campuses in the US. They have an assessment and testing center. They run three kinds of placement tests and two kinds of English proficiency tests. Every student takes it right after the enrolment. They have Mathematics and English tests, but no content-based subject tests. As far as we realize the difference between the US testing culture and the Japanese culture, we would be able to learn a lot from Northeastern Illinois experiences. | |||||||
