Luke Kennard commits to Duke

Versatile guard Luke Kennard, the No. 24 junior in the ESPN 60, has committed to Duke.

The five-star guard chose the Blue Devils over Kentucky, Michigan, Louisville, North Carolina and Ohio State.

"I felt comfortable, not only with the coaching staff at Duke, but also the campus and the atmosphere," Kennard told ESPN.com.

Kennard is one of the top players in the Class of 2015. He's considered more of a shooting guard, but he could even wind up replacing incoming freshman Tyus Jones and senior-to-be Quinn Cook at the point in 2015.

"The culture matched what he was looking for, and it felt like a true family atmosphere" his dad, Mark, said. "He was going to wait until April or May, but he visited all the schools on his list and now he is ready and at peace with his decision."

Kennard, who won Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Ohio this year, averaged 40 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per game at Franklin High.

"Now he can focus on getting stronger, as well as working on his core and flexibility," said Franklin coach Brian Bales.

A left-handed scoring guard with size at 6-foot-5, Kennard's offensive game is diversified. Without question his main asset is the range on his jump shot which extends beyond the 3-point line. He is a terrific all-around guard who can pile up assists in addition to scoring.

This is the first 2015 commitment for Duke, which landed the nation's No. 1 recruiting class for 2014.
