Ichiro with the slide of the century

The Yanks took an early lead in Game 2 after an amazing Ichiro Suzuki slide/dodge/dive. William Perlman/US Presswire

In the first inning of Game 2 of the ALDS between the Yankees and Orioles, Ichiro Suzuki made perhaps the best slide in the history of the Yankees.

With the two outs, Robinson Cano hit a rocket off the base of the right field wall. Suzuki sped around from first. When he rounded third, it appeared that Robert Andino's relay would nail Ichiro by a mile.

Standing at home with the ball was Matt Wieters, waiting to end the inning. Instead the flexible Ichiro moved his hips out of the way up the third base line, making Weiters miss.

Still, Ichiro was not near the plate. So he doubled back and fell on his left hand as Wieters lunged for him. Ichiro darted up and smacked the plate with his right hand.

1-0 Yankees.
