Stacy Dick

Stacy Dick is Senior Investment Advisor of Camino Partners Management, a large single family office he led as President from its founding in 2018. Prior to joining Camino, he served for ten years as Chief Financial Officer of Julian Robertson Holdings.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Dick led the private equity investing activities of the Rothschild investment banking group and created the group’s proprietary co-investment business. During the period 1992–1998, he was Executive Vice President of Tenneco Inc., after beginning his career as an investment banker at First Boston and Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb.

Mr. Dick was educated at Harvard University, receiving an A.B. in Economics in 1978 and a Ph.D. in Business Economics in 1983. He is a board member of the Shalom Hartman Institute and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Law at New York University, trustee of the Charles H. Revson Foundation, and board member of Systemax Inc.

Lorraine McDonough

Lorraine McDonough is a finance tech leader with deep industry knowledge in consumer internet, ecommerce and fintech.

Her 30-year career reflects a track record of leading successful, large-scale transformational initiatives and building high-trust relationships in complex, global business environments. Her aim in serving on Britannica’s Board of Directors is to help the company accelerate growth and innovation as it pursues its mission to inspire curiosity and the joy of learning.

Ms. McDonough led Corporate Development at eBay, Inc. for 8 years, where she leveraged M&A to accelerate growth objectives, including international expansion, product functionality enhancement, and talent acquisition across multiple business lines (eBay Marketplace, PayPal, StubHub, Skype, eBay Enterprise, and eBay Classifieds).

Currently, Ms. McDonough operates a web3 data network company on the Helium Network to provide decentralized, global infrastructure for IOT and 5G mobile. She also serves on the Board of the Loxahatchee River Historical Society, the steward of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum. McDonough is a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Suzanne Rich Folsom

Suzanne Rich Folsom is an experienced independent director, C-Suite executive and influential business leader with a unique global perspective, having worked across Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America. She is an internationally recognized corporate governance expert. Board service includes domestic and international public, private and non-profit boards.

Ms. Folsom is an accomplished business partner with deep expertise in transformational business strategy, enterprise risk management, regulatory and compliance, cyber security, ESG, global M&A, securities, complex litigation, crisis management, restructuring, government affairs and global public policy.

Key corporate leadership positions have included SVP and General Counsel at Philip Morris International; General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and SVP Government Affairs at United States Steel; EVP, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at private equity owned ACADEMI; and VP, Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer and Deputy General Counsel at AIG.

Distinctive public administration roles Ms. Folsom has held include: Counselor to the President of the World Bank and Director of the Office of Institutional Integrity; Private Secretary to H. M. Queen Noor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Special Assistant to Barbara Bush; Advisor to the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women; Advisor to the U.S. Delegation to the U.N. World Women’s Conference in Kenya; and Chief of Staff to the Co-Chair of a U.S. national political party.

Ms. Folsom holds a J.D. from The Georgetown University Law Center (cum laude) and a B.A. in political science from Duke University.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Under the leadership of Jorge Cauz, Britannica and Merriam-Webster have been transformed from iconic print brands into two of the world’s largest and most trusted digital media platforms, serving a global audience of more than 150 million monthly users.

In pre-K to 12 education, Mr. Cauz has led the development of curriculum solutions that transform student and teacher experiences in classrooms around the world. For casual and lifelong learners, he has expanded Britannica’s and Merriam-Webster’s roles as providers of trusted information and built interactive experiences that educate, challenge, and delight—greatly expanding the company’s audience and revenue.

He also served as chairman of the board of the sister company, Britannica Knowledge Systems, a global leader in mission-critical training services.

Mr. Cauz holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management and an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. Jorge and his partner live in Chicago, frequently traveling to New York City, Milan, and Mexico City to visit family.

Benjamin M. Friedman

Board Member

Benjamin M. Friedman is the William Joseph Maier Professor of Political Economy and formerly Chairman of the Department of Economics at Harvard University. He joined the Harvard faculty in 1972.

His latest book is Religion and the Rise of Capitalism – a fundamental reassessment of current-day economics showing how religious thinking has shaped economic thinking in modern Western economics. Two previous books for a general audience were The Moral Consequences of Economic Growth and Day of Reckoning: The Consequences of American Economic Policy Under Reagan and After.

Mr. Friedman has also written or edited fourteen other books, and more than 150 articles in professional journals, aimed at economists and economic policymakers.

His current activities include serving on the board of directors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc., and the Private Export Funding Corporation, a trustee of the Pioneer Funds, and a director of the Council for Economic Education. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mr. Friedman received the A.B., A.M. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard and the M.Sc. degree from King’s College, Cambridge.
