CAIT WHO GOT THE CREAM

TAKE a good look at this face. Its owner, ** Caitriona Balfe, ** 22, had been modelling for some years at home in Dublin before being discovered by Select Models five months ago. But now suddenly she is being rocketed into the limelight. "She did 22 shows in Milan as well as Chanel in Paris, and she opened for Louis Vuitton," says Becky Southwick, editorial booker at Select. "She's moved over to London now so we've got her more full-time and the phones have hardly stopped." Already booked for the Dries Van Noten and John Smedley campaigns this season, Balfe has also posed for Rankin, Mikael Jansson and Patrick Demarchelier. "We're also hoping she'll get the Moschino campaign," Southwick goes on. "Her beauty is really quite commercial, but with a real edge, so she's very 'of the moment'." (9 January 2002, AM)
