Junior flyweight world titleholder Ganigan Lopez suffered a calf injury that forced him to withdraw from a title defense against Mexican countryman and former titleholder Pedro Guevara on Wednesday.
Lopez (28-6, 17 KOs), 34, who lost a unanimous decision to Guevara (28-2-1, 17 KOs), 27, in a July 2015 world title bout, was supposed to meet him in a rematch on Oct. 15 at the Multipurpose Center in Guevara's hometown of Mazatlan.
However, Promociones del Pueblo announced the injury on Wednesday but said the show will go on. Instead of the title fight in the main event, Guevara will take on replacement opponent Jerry Tomogdan (21-7-3, 9 KOs), a 22-year-old southpaw from the Philippines.
Tomogdan has won two fights in a row. In June 2015, he challenged Wanheng Menayothin for a strawweight world title in Thailand and suffered a ninth-round knockout loss.
Lopez-Guevara is expected to be rescheduled once Lopez has recovered.
