Distinguishing itself from previous titles, the third game in the series focuses more on an engrossing single player experience. In addition to its frenzied first-person shooter action, it also scares the wits out of players as they tremble down dark corridors filled with gruesome zombies and monsters ready to attack from the shadows. Players have to switch between their weapons and their flash light to survive the horror that Hell has unleashed on Mars. DOOM 3 features realistic physics, 6-channel surround-sound, and real-time dynamic lighting and shadows that create an environment of ever-changing fear and uncertainty. Compete in vicious multiplayer action where light, shadows, and a totally dynamic world can be used to your advantage or peril.

Weirdly enough, the release of Doom 3: BFG Edition back in October had many players hankering to play the original version of Doom 3. Apparently. That's what Bethesda says, anyway, citing this as the reason why the original Doom 3 is now available again on Steam. No explanation was given as to why it was pulled from the digital marketplace in the first place. Read More »
How many times have you cursed the game-development gods for making games that would be awesome to play with a friend single-player only? I already know the answer: way too often. Well, here in PC gaming land, when somone hands us single-player lemons, we mod them into multiplayer lemonade. Behold! Six great formerly single-player games, including Half-Life 2 and Skyrim, that can now be played with fan-made multiplayer modes. Read More »
Bethesda and id Software announced today the Doom 3 BFG Edition will be ready for your enhanced demon-blasting pleasure on October 16. What I'd like to know is whether John Carmack's brilliant, Nutty Professor-style virtual reality headset will also make the fall release window. Two weeks after its behind-closed-doors reveal, Carmack's homemade headset is still the talk of E3 2012. Read More »
Yesterday Bethesda and id announced Doom 3 will get an enhanced re-release called the BFG Edition. That's great news (the Doom series hasn't seen much love since 2004) but scanning down the list of BFG's features, it seems to be much more about porting the PC version and the Duct Tape Flashlight Mod over to the current generation of consoles than giving PC gamers a reason to play this controversial shooter again. We can do better! Here's a quick and easy collection of mods that'll turn your copy of Doom 3 into a PC-worthy BFG Edition today. Read More »
