After an outstanding month of August, J.D. Martinez has been named the AL Player of the Month.
Martinez ended the month of August with a .373 batting average, seven homers, 25 RBI, and a 1.139 OPS.

September 4, 2018 Martinez has been phenomenal ever since putting on the Red Sox uniform, putting up a .336 average with 102 runs scored, 169 hits, 39 homers, 115 RBI, and five stolen bases Martinez will surely be an MVP candidate.
In other news, Brock Holt will be the Red Sox' nominee for the 2018 Roberto Clemente Award.
The award recognizes the player who who best represents the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement, and philanthropy.
Holt has been involved with the Jimmy Fund and the Red Sox Foundation since coming to the Red Sox in 2013. Holt became a Jimmy Fund co-captain in 2015. The ulility man has participated in every WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon since joining the Red Sox.

September 4, 2018 The “Brock Star” visits the Jimmy Fund as often as he can and is always willing to do whatever it takes to put a smile on the children’s faces.
Holt really stepped up his support of the Jimmy Fund by creating the “Brock Star” ticket program. Holt welcomes a patient and their family to Fenway Park during every Tuesday home game and gives them a goodie bag and an opportunity to spend time with him during batting practice.
