ハイク（HAIKU）は、今日では世界各地で英語やその他の言語で作られ、自然を詠む世界で一番短い詩として知られています。
ハイクは、日本の俳句から生まれた詩です。芭蕉や一茶の俳句が翻訳されて3行の自由詩になりました。
芭蕉の「奥の細道むすびの地」大垣は世界のハイキストにとり、あこがれの土地です。
今日の「俳句まつり」では、英語でハイクにトライしてみましょう。英語のハイクには次のようなルールがあります。

- 現在形
- 3行
- 17音節（または17音節以内）日本の俳句と同じように、英語のハイクも自然について、自然のなかの人間をうたいます。また簡潔な表現で、出来るだけ季節感を表す語を入れましょう。

Welcome to the Ogaki English Haiku Festival. Recently there are so many people writing haiku in English worldwide.
The English haiku originated from the Japanese haiku translations such as the works of Basho, Buson,Issa and Shiki.
It is said that English haiku is a new style of poetry that descends from Japanese haiku. For haikist, Ogaki is known as the journey place of The Narrow Road to the North(奥の細道)by Basho.
We are having a haiku festival here today, so you can enjoy this good chance to try your hand at English haiku.

- 3 lines
- 17syllables(with-in 17 syllables) Like Japanese haiku, English haiku is about nature, and about man in nature. It is best to write concretely. We hope you enjoy writing haiku in English.
