* Sri Lanka parliament dissolved, elections on August 17

June 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Parliament has been dissolved effective from midnight Friday, the government noted.

The President Maithripala Sirisena has signed the proclamation dissolving the parliament ending the speculations.

The Gazette Notification pertaining to the dissolution is now being printed, the Government Printer has confirmed.

It has been reported that nominations for parliamentary elections will be called from 06th July to 15th July and elections will be held on August 17th. Next Parliament is expected to be convened on September 1st.
