WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Massachusetts psychologist has agreed to pay the state of Kansas $30,000 to settle a lawsuit over an interview he conducted with the BTK killer.

The lawsuit was filed in 2005 against Robert Mendoza. He had been hired by Dennis Rader's court-appointed attorneys to interview Rader in Rader's cell.

He conducted the interview for a videotape for public defenders to use at Rader's sentencing. Instead, the tape ended up on the television show ``Dateline NBC.''

The Attorney General's Office sued Mendoza on behalf of the Board of Indigents' Defense Services for conversion and breach of contract.

Attorney General Paul Morrison announced the settlement today. He said the money the state collected would be given to the families of the ten people Rader admitted killing.
