Ryan Gosling believes in hard work
The 30-year-old Canadian actor started his career aged 12 as one of the stars of variety television show The Mickey Mouse Club, and he has gone on to become one of the industry’s most in-demand names.
The actor, whose upcoming movie projects include Drive and The Ides of March, argues that some of his showbiz counterparts should focus on their careers more to avoid the pitfalls of a party lifestyle.
"The problem in Hollywood is that actually nobody is really working. You go to a lunch, to your Pilates class, to a gala.
“At some point all of this isn't enough anymore, then drugs enter the scene. If everybody was occupied the whole time, the industry would be cleaner," he explained in an interview with Germany’s Jolie magazine.
Although Ryan believes it’s important to work hard to avoid lapsing into a wild lifestyle, he is equally concerned about making too many films. The star doesn’t want the public to tire of his face and worries about becoming over-exposed.
"I want to avoid people getting sick of me because they see me on the screen all the time," he mused.
The actor - who considers himself the “master of sandwich-making" - also took time to discuss his Los Angeles restaurant Tagine. The actor opened the Moroccan eatery with chef Ben Benameur and Chris Angulo a few years back, and has revealed he sometimes even serves customers in there.
"I bought it a few years ago on a whim. I was broke afterwards and had to do all the renovations by myself. Just alone to lay pipes took me half a year. In the meantime everything is done and I help as a waiter from time to time," he smiled.
