At Mt. View School, good readers are good writers.  The more we read and write - the smarter we will become.  As a school, we have set goals for reading and writing stamina for the first six weeks.

Grade Level                Reading Stamina               Writing Stamina

K                                        5 minutes                          10 minutes
1st                                     15 minutes                         10 minutes

5th                                    35 minutes                          35 minutes

Thank you for helping us by reading and writing with your child at home.  To monitor their progress, see how many uninterrupted minutes your child can read and write at home.

Welcome Back!

At Mt. View, our school’s theme is “Read Around the World in 180 Days.”  We know the more we read, the smarter we become. We are again asking all children to record their minutes read at home each day on their monthly reading logs.  The reading logs are then turned in at the beginning of each month.  Thank you for reading each day with your children – it makes a ‘world’ of difference!

For everyone's safety, cars are only allowed to park in designated spots.  Please drive slowly when entering and leaving our school.  At Mt. View School, safety is our number one priority.

Back to School Reminders:

Please call the school by 9 A.M. if your child is going to be sick.

All emergency contact numbers must be updated each year.

Welcome to Mountain View School.  We are glad you are here.  Thanks for taking a few minutes to learn about all of the great things happening at our school.  Below, you will find two helpful links.  The first is a link to help your child in creating a "critique" of their favorite book.  We are learning there is the difference between a summary and a critique, and when children critique their books, they often have a deeper understanding of the book they are reading.  The second link is a parent's rubric for reading fluency.  You may find it helpful as you listen to your child read to see how they are progressing with different aspects of their reading.  Thank you for working with us as we provide our students with some outstanding opportunities to learn.
