KAMAL Hassan has firmed up his record of Filmfare are awards by winning the best actor award this year for his dual performance in the movie Indian, taking his total tally to l7.

As per the results of the 44th annual Filmfare Awards for Tamil films released during 1996, the best actress award goes to Shruthi for Kalki. This is her second Filmfare trophy. Indian, produced by A M Rathnam, has been adjudged the best picture.

According to the results announced in Chennai on Tuesday Ahathian, gets the best director I award for Kaadhal Kottai and A R Rahman wins his fifth consecutive award for best music this year for his chart-busting score in Kaadhal Desam.

Earlier, he had won two Filmfare trophies in Mumbai for Rangeela and the R D Burman Award taking his total tally to seven.
