La Crosse plans to copy Førde's famed Huldefossen waterfall, and make it the centerpiece of a friendship park, newspaper Firda reports.
A delegation from Førde visited La Crosse last week and were presented with the plans for the park. The Norwegians suggested taking the theme of twinned towns further by adding a waterfall, an idea that their American friends adopted with enthusiasm.
La Crosse is twinned with six other spots, Førde being one since 2005. Four of La Crosse's twin cities have dedicated parks in Wisconsin, and Førde is next on the list.
"The board of the La Crosse park committee will use the autumn and winter to raise the necessary funds to fill the park. Their expert gardeners and designers will do the job, and all the labor is volunteer work," said Liv Judith Straume, from Førde twin town committee.
