TESS 52 EURO TESS Kamsarmax 82BC
TESS 52

The basic concept of TESS52 is "handy size, convenient and
versatile" ship.TESS52 features shown below are those giving the ship
owner the highest benefits.

TESS52 with a shallow draft and overall length of max. 190 m as well as other
TESS ships can enter in many ports in the world. However, the width has
been increased to the Panama Canal passable max. width so that
a larger capacity can be obtained. Note that TESS40 and 45 have a
width of 100 feet, smaller than TESS52.

The cargo volume corresponding to the max. deadweight capacity is
about 67,500 cubic meters (@ S.F. of about 47 CF/LT with half bunker.)

For all cargo holds, the length of the flat part of the tank top is as much as possible
the same as the length of the corresponding hatchway taking account of loading long products, e.g. steel pipes, in the holds.

The actual layout of cargo holds is the tank top length of min. 27 m (88 feet) and hatchway length of min. 20 m. Lashing eye plates in the holds are located on side frames and bulkheads in such a way that they make two rows at appropriate heights. Hold ladders are located completely within a corrugate so that they can be protected from being hit against solid cargoes.

Loading/unloading gears, deck cranes, have a capacity of 30 metric tons with a slightly higher hoisting speed. To improve the loading/unloading rate, the hatchway width (57% of the ship's width) is wider than other handy bull carriers in the same class.

The upper deck is cleared of fittings in way of top side tanks so that lumber cargoes can be loaded on the upper deck.

On each of the cross deck between hatchways, a grab bucket (up to 12 m³, available for 30MT crane) can be stored.

The propulsive efficiency is higher due to our own energy-saving hull form fitted with a stern bulb (SURF-BULB) that is appropriate for the service speed of 14.5 knots.

The main engine of B&W; make has been chosen in consideration of the highest reliability and economy. The engine output rating can be adjusted to a service speed of up to 14.8 knots.

The standard specifications of TESS52 include the automation in the engine room.

Outside hull painting systems use a modified epoxy paint as an undercoat for various locations. Accommodation areas are quite different from those for our former standard ships with respect to the interior design and aesthetic views. The contemporary feel and luxuries produced by architecture interior designers may surely satisfy the owner.

The hull structure uses T-shaped longitudinals to compensate for the lower fatigue strength of high-tensile steel material.

Stiffeners located adjacent to the longitudinal members are of a soft shaped scallop. Brackets are soft type.
The cargo hold used also as a ballast tank is reinforced with additional girders located in the double bottom space. Part of the tank top plates and bulkhead lower stool plates in way of this cargo hold are reinforced by using a thicker plate or higher grade material.

TESS 52

Japanese shipbuilders are in bad repute for poor flexibility in meeting
owner's requirements as a result of insisting on the builder's
standard specifications. To wipe out this repute among foreign ship
owners, a new TESS version, EURO TESS, was included in the lineups.
The specifications of EURO TESS ship were determined based
on our extensive hearing surveys from foreign ship owners

Major modifications from ordinary TESS series include:

1. LRS chosen as a classification society

2. Structural material for areas subject to cargo-hit
damage and hard spot areas was

3. Corrosion protections for ballast tanks and pipes
(including cooling water pipes) were improved.

4. Accommodation areas of higher grade

Kamsarmax 82BC

In spring 2002, Tsuneishi Corp. decided to develop a new product to meet our clients' requirement of larger Panamax bulk carrier(BC). As our first step of development,in particular, we researched the world port conditions and limitations in terms of the ship's length overall (LOA), which would be modified from the existing Panamax BCs.

Acknowledging from our market survey that Port Kamsar (Guinea), where is the major loading terminal of bauxite, is restricted to vessels not more than 229m LOA, we deveroped the larger Bulk Carrier need to fulfill this limitations and named the new concept BC "Kamsarmax BC".

Tsuneishi did the sales campaign of Kamsarmax BC to severals ship owners as well as charters in Europe, Far East Asia and Japan in November 2002. Since then, Kamsarmax BC has got the well reputation as to meet the advanced market needs, Tsuneishi has numbers of the orders of "Kamsarmax BC" and will start the construction of 1st vessel from September, 2004.

Major data on Kamsarmax is as follows:
