 Water Resources

Over half of humanity depends on fresh water that originates in mountain watersheds. In an era of increasingly water scarcity, perhaps no other region has greater value for geopolitical and environmental security. The integrity of mountain watersheds are threatened by the loss of vegetation on mountain slopes caused by numerous erosive activities, including inappropriate forms of agriculture, logging, grazing, mining, and road construction.
