About this app

Welcome to the ownCloud Android App – Add an ownCloud server, and have your private file sync and share cloud up and running in no time.

Do you need private file sync and share software? Then good news, because the ownCloud Android App enables you to connect Android devices to a private ownCloud Server running in your data center. ownCloud is open source file sync and share software for everyone from individuals operating the free ownCloud server, to large enterprises and service providers operating under the ownCloud Enterprise Subscription. ownCloud provides a safe, secure and compliant file sync and share solution – on servers you control.

With the ownCloud Android App you can browse all of your ownCloud synced files, create and edit new files, share these files and folders with co-workers, and keep the contents of those folders in sync across all of your devices. Simply copy a file into a directory on your server and ownCloud does the rest.

Whether using a mobile device, a desktop, or the web client, ownCloud provides the ability to put the right files in the right hands at the right time on any device in one simple-to-use, secure, private and controlled solution. After all, with ownCloud, it’s Your Cloud, Your Data, Your Way.

Should you have any problem connecting or synchronizing with your ownCloud server, please contact us on https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues or check https://central.owncloud.org.

Visit us at www.ownCloud.com for more information about ownCloud and the ownCloud Subscriptions. For more information on the free and open source ownCloud Server, visit www.ownCloud.org.

Waste of time. Use Folder Sync app instead. This app can't sync photos from more than 1 folder. Can't set up folder to folder sync operations. It syncs photos from 1 folder as long as you don't lose network connection. if you do, it won't sync the pictures that are taken while the phone is off the network. They have a long way to go to make this app useable. However, I did find the Folder Sync app will sync with ownCloud. Much more flexibility and reliability.

Owncloud on Android isn't bad, but could be better. I have a self-hosted OwnCloud server and so far (about a hour) I love it! I am able to log in on the web app, upload and download files, and do everything I'd expect. The Android app was able to connect and see my files with no issue. I was also able to upload, download, and delete files and all changes were shown immediately. My only complaint is with synching. There isn't a way to auto sync old files. The file sync or backup works for anything added since I installed the app on my phone, but old files were not automatically backed up. I think many would appreciate the ability to do incremental backups to sync any files that were changed or are yet to be uploaded from the monitored folder. I only care because this is a paid app and (so far) this is my only gripe. Adding a way to sync existing files would make my life complete.

Great App (and server platform) but still needs work. App requires "retry" continually when uploads of pictures and videos fail (due to leaving wifi, and returning to wifi; it should auto resume!) Don't need to be notified unless it's a permanent failure. Also, option for two way sync or not would be helpful on that. - Love the app, and server, love having my own data storage privately! Great job everyone, keep it up!
