Everyone's smiling at the beginning of this new year!.. With the
overwhelming success of Deepavali films, and the flood of new films for
Pongal 1996.. there's plenty of news and rumours for us to cover!.. So,

***Thangai-kku "Priyamaana" Akka had gone shopping with a tall, handsome
man recently!!.. The store owner.. thathakaa pithakaa yendru.. asked her
if the man was her "would-be".. the nadigai laughed nervously.. appuram
nice-sa changed the subject!.. The tall man is the son of a very famous
jewelery store owner.. and yerkanave kalyaanam aanavar!.. Hmm.. Paavam

***"Dhadi" director who got married recently.. is a very open-minded
man!.. Adhanaal, he told his new wife all about his former lover, who was
a nadigai!.. Vishayam therindha pudhu manaivi.. headed straight to the
nadigai's house and started to reason with her!.. "Neenga yenn en
kanavar-ai marandhutu.. verai aal-ai kalyanam pannikka koodaadhu?".. etc.
etc.. It is believed that the pudhu manaivi has even been setting up a
maapillai with her own family, for the nadigai!..

***Kudumba paangaana characters-il nadikkam andha "Natchathira" nadigai
did something really strange recently!.. Kudi pazhakkaththai drop panna
villain (POI!!).. was smoking a cigarette!... The nadigai took the
cigarette from him and smoked it herself!.. Then a few minutes later, when
the villain had taken another cigarette, she took it from him, placed it
on her mouth, lit it and placed it back into his mouth!.. Idhai ellam
nadigai-yin kanavar eppadi yetru kolla pogiraaro!..
Netru illadha maatram yennadhu?!!!..

***"Indhiyan"-ukkum kashtam varum!.. As we all know, Director Shankar
avar-udaiya "Indhiyan"-ai porthi porthi paadhu kaarthu varugiraar!.. But
he really blew his top when Kumudham Sunil interviewed him recently!.. It
seems that Shankar has picturized a song sequence with Kamal, Urmila, and
70 Bombay models in "Indhiyan"... Somehow the word got out and a "Raaja"
director has lifted the idea and used it for his low-budget film!..
Kodhichchu pona Shankar also complained that the director had reproduced
the very same idea only with cheap Madras models for his song sequence!..
Shankar also fears that the "Raaja" director's film, since it's soooo low
budget will come out before "Indhiyan"... Appuram yaaroda idea original..

with a "Rajadhiraaja" telegu actor.. Nadigai-yin petroar were in strong
opposition to this kaadhal.. The sagodhari even came from Bombay to
appease the feuding factions.. aanal, payan illai!.. The nadigai is
starring with the telegu hero in one more film.. adhukku appuram DUM DUM
DUM dhaan!..

***"Kannam kuzhiyum" andha nadigar romba samath-thaagi vitaar!.. Before
he used to joke around with other heroines and kichu kichu muttu-fy etc.

***A.R.Rahman 1996-il oru "Indhiyan"-aai "Anandham"-il, "Minsaara
Kanav"-il moozhgi kidakiraar!.. Kumudham's recent interview with
A.R.Rahman has turned a lot of heads among his fans and tamil movie
audiences!.. Sila svarasyamaana vishayangal..

***When asked about Ilaiyaraja.. A.R.R. said.. "He is what he is!".. It's
not like what you think.. engalukkul shandai yedhuvum illai.. it's just
that.. ippo irukkura suzhnilai-la yaar yedhu pesinaalum vidhyaasamaa theriyum!..
Avar patthi naan sonnaalo, avar ennai patri sonnalo.. poli-yaaga theriyum!..
Avar oru genius.. I heard that his "Kaalapaani" songs are good!..

***While discussing Yuvan shankar and Karthik Ilaiyaraaja.. he mentioned
that he had played with both of them as a youngster working under
Ilaiyaraja.. "Yuvan kitte spark irukku".. At that time itself, Yuvan used
to do lots of things that Karthik used to do.. (in terms of music!)..

up with a really interesting answer for this.. According to him.. Ilaiya
thalai murai have no ego.. the old timers on the other hand, don't try
too hard to understand me.. Naan composing seiyarapo.. illai thozhugai-la
irukkurapo.. they arrive and feel insulted if I don't see them, on time!..
But "young generation.. appadi illai!".. "Quality dhaan avangalukku
mukkiyam!".. My intention isn't to hurt them (old timers!).. it's all in
the way people understand me!..

***"Kuluvaalilay" paatt-ai Udith paadi dhaan irukkanum-aa.. Rajini-ukku

padinadhu naan dhaan.. after which I made Udith sing it.. the director
(K.S.Ravikumar), initially had not even conceived the song as Rajini
singing it!.. But when the actual song picturization was done..

***Mira Nair (director of famous films: Salaam Bombay and Mississippi Masala
in Hollywood) offered A.R.Rahman the opportunity to compose music for her
latest "Kaama Sutra".. A.R.Rahman refused the offer, saying.. Yerkanave
avanga padangal-la bayangara controversy.. idhukku melle, I didn't want
my first english film to be "Kaama Sutra".. if that becomes the case,
ellarum inime "ANDHA MAADHIRI"-yaana padangalukku dhaan ennai
koopiduvaanga!..
