Mets Hall of Famer brings MLB and championship credentials to HawkCity

STATEN ISLAND, NY—Staten Island Entertainment, led by John Catsimatidis and Eric
Shuffler, along with a dynamic investor group including Yankee Global Enterprises, Randy
Levine, Pete Davidson, Colin Jost, Michael Che, Dany Garcia and others are excited to announce
the hiring of Edgardo Alfonzo as the Staten Island FerryHawks inaugural manager.

Alfonzo, known as "Fonzie", is a hugely popular former Mets All Star with a lifetime .284
average and over 1500 hits. Alfonzo was a star on the 2000 Mets team that played the Yankees
in the Subway Series World Series. Alfonzo played ten years in major leagues primarily in New
York but also San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto. Alfonzo later played in Japan and the
Atlantic League. After his playing career, he joined the coaching ranks as a bench coach for the
Brooklyn Cyclones in 2014, was named manager in 2017 and won a championship in 2019. As
manager, Alfonzo will oversee player recruitment, training, development and in-game strategy.

Alfonzo will also be an active face of the team in our community engagement strategies.
"Staten Island, our goal is to keep our promise, help rebuild the most beautiful venue with the
NYC Skyline in Downtown, Staten Island. Edgardo is a New York Mets Hall of Famer, All Star
Player, and Championship Manager. Edgardo is a proven winner, even though I rooted for the
Yankees, I always admired Edgardo for the affection the New York City Baseball Fans have for
him, we are happy to have him Lead our Hawks by the Ferry. We welcome the Alfonzo Family
into Hawk City." Said Staten Island Entertainment Chairman, John Catsimatidis.

"Alfonzo brings instant championship credibility. He is a proven winner, and popular with New
York fans. His experience as a player and manager will attract top caliber talent and his
coaching skills will make our players better. He understands our core commitment to
community engagement and Staten Island focus." said FerryHawks President Eric Shuffler.

"I have worked with and watched him get the best out of his players and the people around him.
He has conviction and will stand up for his players. This was extremely important in making our
decision. We know he is a winner on and off the field and this is what Staten Island deserves.
What I have always loved about the Alfonzo's, they have great family values and in building our
FerryHawks Family, I am happy to have him at the helm!" said Executive Vice
President/General Manager Gary Perone.

"I am excited to return to managing and to get back on the field. This is a great opportunity to
help bring back baseball to Staten Island and to this community. I always loved visiting this
ballpark, and now to return back to New York City as manager of the FerryHawks is very
special." said FerryHawks Edgardo Alfonzo.

The team will play its inaugural season in the Atlantic League in 2022. The home opener is May
3rd, 2022. The Atlantic League is an MLB partner league and offers some of the highest caliber
of baseball outside of the major leagues. The FerryHawks will be the anchor of a larger vision to
turn the ballpark near the ferry with its iconic views of New York Harbor, into a community-
focused, year-round sports and entertainment playground featuring professional baseball, youth
and amateur sports, concerts, festivals and community activities.
