Abu'l Muzaffar Muin ud-din Muhammad Shah Farrukh-siyar Alim Akbar Sani Wala Shan Padshah-i-bahr-u-bar [Shahid-i-Mazlum], Emperor of India. b. at Aurangabad, 20^th August 1685 n.s., son of Sultan Azhar ud-din Muhammad 'Azim Mirza, 'Azim us-Shan Bahadur, sometime Subadar of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, by his fourth wife, Sahiba Nizwan, sister of Khwaja Inayatu'llah, Shaista Khan, sometime Subadar of Kashmir, educ. privately. Proclaimed at Patna, and ascended the musnaid at Bagh-i-Afzal Khan, 7^th April 1712 n.s. Defeated his uncle, Emperor Jahandar Shah, near Agra, and again ascended the musnaid in his camp, 11^th January 1713 n.s. Deposed, blinded and imprisoned by his Wazir Qutb ul-Mulk, 22^nd March 1719. ???????? m. (first) before 27^th December 1715 n.s., Nawab Fakhr un-nisa Begum Sahiba (b. 1696), daughter of Nawab Sa'adat Khan Bahadur [Mir Muhammad Taqi Husaini], of the Marashi clan, sometime Mir Buzurg and Subadar of Kashmir, probably by his wife, Gauhar un-nisa Begum Sahiba, daughter of Mirza Masum Khan Safawi. m. (second) at the haveli of Amir ul-Umara, Delhi, 28^th September 1715 n.s. (nikah) and 18^th December 1715 n.s. (zifaf) Maharajkumari Shri Indira Kanwar Baiji Lal Sahiba (b. at Jodhpur, 1696), who left the harem after her husband's death, purified herself 17^th July 1719 n.s. and returned to her father's household, eldest daughter of Raj Rajeshwar Maharaja Shri Ajit Singhji Sahib, Raja of Jodhpur. m. (third) 4^th July 1717 n.s., a daughter of the Raja of Kishtawar, in the Kashmir hills. He was k. (strangled, beaten and stabbed to death) in captivity at the Tripoli Gate Prison, the Red Fort, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, 29^th April 1719 n.s. (bur. Mausoleum of Humayun, Shahjahanabad, Delhi), having had issue, two sons and one daughter:

1) Shahzada Muhammad Farkhunda-siyar Bakht Bahadur, Jahangir Shah Bahadur (cre. January 1713). b. at Patna, 28^th December 1711 n.s.(s/o a concubine). Subadar of Bengal February-May 1713. He d. at Delhi, from small-pox, 13^th May 1713 n.s.
2) Shahzada Jahan Murad Shah Bahadur. b. at Delhi, 22^nd October 1717 n.s. (s/o Gauhar un-nisa Begum). He d. 23^rd May 1718 n.s.
1) Nawab Malika uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba [Padshah Begum]. b. 1703 (d/o Fakhr un-nisa Begum). m. at Delhi, 9^th December 1721 n.s., H.M. Abu'l-Muzaffar Nasir ud-din Muhammad Shah Sahib-i-Qiran-i-Sani Padshah Ghazi, Emperor of India (b. at Ghazni, 27^th August 1701; d. at the Moti Mahal, Red Fort, Delhi, 25^th April 1748), second son of Shahzada Khujaista Akhtar Mirza, Jahan Shah Bahadur. She d. at Delhi, before 21^st September 1789 (bur. there at the Teez Huzari Bagh), having had issue, one son - see below.

1719 H.M. Abu'l Barakat Sultan Shams ud-din Muhammad Rafi' ud-Darajat Padshah Ghazi, Shahanshah-i-bahr-u-bar, Emperor of India. b. 1^st December 1699 n.s., youngest son of Sultan Muhammad Rafi' ul-Qadr Mirza, Rafi' us-Shan Bahadur, sometime Subadar of Kabul, by his first wife, Nawab Raziat un-nisa Begum Sahiba, daughter of Sultan Muhammad Akbar Mirza, educ. privately. Proclaimed and seated on the musnaid on the deposition of cousin, 28^th May 1719 n.s. Abdicated in favour of his elder brother, 6^th June 1719 n.s. m. Nawab Inayat Banu Begum Sahiba (b. at Agra, 1701). He d.s.p. of consumption (or was murdered) at Agra, 13^th June 1719 n.s. (bur. Mausoleum of Khwaja Qutb ud-din Kaki, Delhi).

1719 H.M. Rafi' ud-Daula, Sultan Rafi' ud-din Muhammad Shah Jahan-i-Sani Padshah Ghazi, Shahanshah-i-bahr-u-bar, Emperor of India. b. June 1698, second son of Sultan Muhammad Rafi' ul-Qadr Mirza, Rafi' us-Shan Bahadur, sometime Subadar of Kabul, by his second wife, Nawab Nur un-nisa Begum Sahiba, daughter of Shaikh Baqi, educ. privately. Succeeded on the abdication of his younger brother, 6^th June 1719 n.s. Installed on the musnaid at the Hall of Public Audience, Red Fort, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, 8^th June 1719 n.s. He d. unm. in camp, at Bidyapur, near Fatehpur Sikri, 19^th September 1719 n.s. (bur. next to his brother at the Mausoleum of Khwaja Qutb ud-din Kaki, Delhi).

1719 H.M. Sahib-i-Qiran Muhammad Shah Neku-siyar Taimur-i-Sani Padshah-i-Zaman, Emperor of India. b. before 6^th October 1679 n.s., second son of Sultan Muhammad Akbar Mirza, by his first wife, Nawab Salima Banu Begum Sahiba, daughter of Shahzada Sultan Sulaiman Shikoh, sometime Naib Subadar of Kabul., educ. privately. Imprisoned at Agra Fort 1681-1719. Proclaimed and acended the musnaid at Agra Fort, 19^th May 1719. Arrested after the gates of the citadel had been opened to Ghairat Khan, 13^th August 1719 n.s.. He d. at Salimgarh, Delhi, 12^th April 1723 n.s. (bur. there at the Mausoleum of Khwaja Qutb ud-din Kaki).

1720 H.M. Abu'l-Fath Zahir ud-din Muhammad Ibrahim IV Shah-i-Shahan, Emperor of India. b. 9^th August 1703 n.s., youngest son of Sultan Muhammad Rafi' ul-Qadr Mirza, Rafi' us-Shan Bahadur, sometime Subadar of Kabul, by his second wife, Nur un-nisa Begum Sahiba, daughter of Shaikh Baqi. Subadar of Agra and Oudh. Appointed to an Imperial mansab of 7,000 zat and 2,000 sowar 2^nd December 1707 n.s. Raised to the musnaid at Delhi, by the Sayyid brothers, 17^th October 1720 n.s. Defeated by Emperor Muhammad Shah at the battle of Hasanpur and deposed, 13^th November 1720. Imprisoned at Shahjahanabad, Delhi. "His day of power was short-lived, like a drop of dew on a blade of grass". He d. at the Tripoli Gate Prison, Red Fort, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, 31^st January 1746 n.s. (bur. Mausoleum of Khwaja Qutb ud-din Kaki).

1719 - 1748 H.M. Abu'l-Muzaffar Nasir ud-din Muhammad Shah Sahib-i-Qiran-i-Sani Padshah Ghazi [Firdaus Aramgah], Emperor of India. b. at Ghazni, 17^th August 1702 n.s., as Shahzada Roshan Akhtar Bahadur, second son of Sultan Khujaista Akhtar Mirza, Jahan Shah Bahadur, sometime Subadar of Malwa, by his second wife, H.H. Nawab Qudsia ul-Alqab Hazrat Begum Sahiba, educ. privately. Proclaimed on the death of his cousin, 27^th September 1719 n.s. Ascended the musnaid under the title of Abu'l Fath Nasir ud-din Muhammad Shah Padshah Ghazi at Tajpur, near Bidyapur, 29^th September 1719. Altered his style to Abu'l Muzaffar Nasir ud-din Muhammad Shah Sahib-i-Qiran-i-Sani Padshah Ghazi, 9^th August 1719. Abdicated on the defeat of the Mughal armies by Nadir Shah at Karnal, 26^th February 1739. Crowned by Nadir Shah in person at Delhi, 12^th May 1739. m. (first) at Delhi, 8^th December 1721, H.H. Nawab Malika uz-Zamani Begum Sahiba [Padshah Begum] (b. 1703; d. at Delhi, before 21^st September 1789, bur. there at the Teez Huzari Bagh), daughter of H.M. Abu'l Muzaffar Muin ud-din Muhammad Shah Farrukh-siyar Padshah-i-bahr-u-bar, Emperor of India, by his wife, Nawab Gauhar un-nisa Begum Sahiba, daughter of Sayyid Husain Sa'adat Khan, sometime Mir Buzurg of the Marashi clan. m. (second) at Delhi, 8^th December 1721, H.M. Nawab Malika-i-Jahan Sahiba Mahal Begum Sahiba (d. after 1793, bur. Mausoleum of Muhammad Shah, Nizamuddin), daughter of Amir ul-Umara, Samsam ud-Daula, Nawab Sayyid Sa'adat Khan Bahadur, Zulfiqar Jang, sometime Mir Bakhshi. m. (third) at Delhi, Baijiu Sahiba Nawab Qudsia Begum Sahiba Zamaniya, Qibla-i-Alam (cre. 1748) alias Mumtaz Mahal Sahiba alias Udham Bai, a former dancing girl, a mansabdar of 50,000, imprisoned with her son, the Emperor Ahmad Shah I, on 2^nd June 1754, a niece or sister of Mu'taqid ud-Daula, Nawab Aman Khan Bahadur, a mansabdar of 7,000 zat and 7,000 sowar and a former musician. m. (fourth) Nawab Safiya Sultan Begum Sahiba, daughter of Khan-i-Khanan Tarkhan Sultani, Mir Jumla Mu'azzam Khan Bahadur, Muzaffar Jang, sometime Sadar-i-Kul under his son-in-law. m. (a) Rup Bai. m. (b) Fathpuri Bai. m. (c) Roshanabadi Mahal Sahiba. He d. at the Moti Mahal, Red Fort, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, 26^th April 1748 n.s. (bur. Mausoleum of Muhammad Shah, Nizamuddin Awliya), having had issue, three sons and three daughters:

1) Shahzada Shahariyar Shah Bahadur (s/o Nawab Malika uz-Zamani Begum). Subadar of the Deccan 1724. He d. young, 19^th July 1724.
2) H.M. Mujahid ud-din Muhammad 'Abu Nasir Ahmad Shah I Bahadur Padshah Ghazi, Emperor of India (s/o Udham Bai) - see below.
3) Shahzada Taj Muhammad (s/o Fathpuri Bai). He was blinded with his brother by Imad ul-Mulk, Ghazi ud-din Khan, 1754.

2) Shahzadi Jahan Afruz Banu Begum Sahiba. b. 17^th April 1723 (d/o Roshanabadi Mahal).
3) Shahzadi Sahiba uz-Zamani Hazrat Begum Sahiba [Padshah Bibi]. b. at the Red Fort, Delhi, 4^th November 1741 (d/o Safiya Sultan). m. at his camp, near Delhi, 5^th April 1757, H.M. Padshah Durr-i-Durran Ahmad Shah, Shah of Afghanistan (b. at Multan, 1722; d. at Toba-Maruf, 16^th October 1772, bur. Kandahar), posthumous son of Muhammad Zaman Khan, sometime Subadar of Herat, by his wife, Zarghuna Begum, daughter of Khalu Khan Alkozai. She d. 1774 (bur. Mausoleum of Muhammad Shah, Delhi), having had issue - see Afghanistan (Durrani). (She had an infant daughter bur. Mausoleum of Muhammad Shah, Nizamuddin).
Muhammad Shah had a grandson:
- a) Mirza Jigru (bur. Mausoleum of Muhammad Shah, Nizamuddin).

1748 - 1754 H.M. 'Abu'n-Nasir Mujahid ud-din Muhammad Ahmad Shah I Bahadur Padshah Ghazi, Emperor of India. b. at the Red Fort, Delhi, 23^rd December 1725 n.s., educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 26^th April 1748 n.s.. Ascended the musnaid at his camp at Londara, Panipat, 29^th April 1748 n.s. Crowned in the Shalimar Gardens, Red Fort, Delhi, 4^th May 1748 n.s. Deposed, blinded and imprisoned by the Grand Vizier, Imad ul-Mulk, Nawab Ghazi ud-din Khan Bahadur, 2^nd June 1754. m. (first) ca. 17^th December 1743, a daughter of Mahabat Khan. m. (second) H.H. Nawab Gauhar Afruz Banu Begum Sahiba, daughter of Mirza Muhammad Fatiha Kariba. m. (a) Inayatpuri Bai, his favourite wife. m. (b) Sarfaraz Mahal Sahiba. m. (c) Rani Uttam Kumari Sahiba. He d. a prisoner, 1^st January 1775 (bur. Mausoleum of Mariam Makani, Delhi), having had issue:

2) Shahzada Bidar Bakht, Mahmud Shah Bahadur [Banka], who succeeded as H.M. Nasir ud-din Muhammad Kuchuk Jahan Shah IV Padshah Ghazi, Emperor of India - see below.
3) Shahzada Tala Sa'id Shah Bahadur. Subadar of Kashmir 1752.
4) Shahzada Muhammad Jam'iyat Shah Bahadur. An Urdu poet under the nom de plume of Ashuri. He had issue, two sons and one daughter:

- b) Mirza Ghulam Husain Bahadur [Mirza Kallu]. He d. after 1857, having had issue, two sons and one daughter:
  - i) Mirza Husain Bakhsh Bahadur Gurgani.
  - ii) Mirza 'Ali Bakhsh Bahadur Gurgani. m. (first) Mubarak un-nisa Begum Sahiba (b. ca. 1808; d. after 1862). m. (second) Fahim un-nisa Begum Sahiba (b. ca. 1828; d. after 1862). m. (third) Wazir un-nisa Begum Sahiba (b. ca. 1818; d. after 1862). He d. after 1857, having had issue:
    - (1) Mirza Muhammad Zahir ud-din Bahadur Gurgani.
  - i) Jam'iyat Afruz Banu Begum Sahiba.
- c) Muhammadi Begum Sahiba. b. 1829. m. as his first wife, Mirza Turab Shah Bahadur (b. at Delhi, 1832; d. at Moulmien, Burma, 17^th June 1891), eldest son of Mirza Roshan ud-din Muhammad, Kaikubad Shah Bahadur, by his wife, Wajida Sultan Begum Sahiba [Nunni Jan], third daughter of Mirza Karim ud-din Bahadur - see above.
5) Shahzada Muhammad Dilawar Shah Bahadur. m. Rahim un-nisa Begum Sahiba (b. ca. 1798; d. after 1862). He d. after 1835, having had issue, three sons and daughters:
