	The bobcat in Florida, unlike the Florida panther, is not threatened or endangered and can coexist with the human element.
	The bobcat is primarily a nocturnal hunter, but can be seen along deserted roads early in the morning or late in the evening hunting for small rodents. Its curiosity sometimes allows it to be photographed. This one was watching two river otters at play in a pond.
	The bobcat was watching two river otters from the water's edge, who were in turn watching the bobcat. This interesting encounter occurred on Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.
	The river otters in Florida can be seen in both fresh and salt water ponds and lagoons. Their playful antics indicates that fishing may be secondary to play. Otters are more visible inthe late winter and early spring, as they search for crustaceans in the water. The otters in this photograph were resting in the warm sunshine.
	Asleep on the edge of a pond, these river otter pups have been roused by their mother and are returning to the water.

	The feral hogs in Florida, or "piney woods rooter" as they are sometimes called, are domestic hogs that were released or escaped into the wild years ago. They can destroy acres of vegitation in a short time as they root for tender underground roots of plants.
	A whitetail deer and her fawn stop their activity to watch the photographer. A second later they raised their white tails and bounded away.
	The raccoons around salt water marshes and lagoons in the coastal areas of Florida look much different than their upland cousins that live in woodland areas. Their fur is bleached from exposure to the sun and they look unkempt from prolong periods of remaining wet. These two were beside a canal where the mother was teaching her ofspring how to forage for food.
	The marsh rabbit, sometimes referred to as a swamp rabbit, prefers to make its home near water. They are frequently seen on the shoulders of roads munching on tender shoots of grass.
