WISA

"WISA" is a collection of products used for deploying advanced ^{(asof 2006-2007)} websites,
or (to put it another way) a collection of tools used as a "web application framework".

WISA is an abbreviation for the following Microsoft technologies:

• Windows (Microsoft's operating system),
• Internet Information Services (a web server, commonly referred to as IIS),
• Microsoft SQL Server (database) and
• a ASP (scripting language – short for Active Server Pages ).

The other option for dynamic website deployment is based on various open-source technologies:

• Linux (an open source operating system based on UNIX),
• Apache (web server),
• MySQL (database) and
• PHP (a scripting language).

This combination is abbreviated as LAMP. This article will compare each component of WISA and LAMP."
