Southgate upset by Boro boo-boys

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate
Southgate's side snatched an injury-time draw with Portsmouth

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate said he was unhappy with some fans booing the players during their 1-1 draw with Portsmouth.

They chanted "we've only got one player" to highlight Tuncay's efforts as opposed to some of his colleagues.

"Some chants were disrespectful. The crowd are right to laud his efforts but we win and lose as a team," he said.

"The other lads may not have been as eye-catching but they made important saves, blocks and interceptions."

Middlesbrough had looked destined for defeat against fellow strugglers Portsmouth until Marlon King equalised in injury time, and Southgate said this just symbolised the importance of the team effort.

"It's hurtful for a lot of the other players. We survive as a club and as a town by everyone pulling together."
