Griffin celebrates his dramatic injury-time winner at the Britannia
Andy Griffin struck in injury time to settle a seven-goal thriller and see Stoke into the Carling Cup last 16.
David Vaughan smashed home and Billy Clarke looped in a header either side of half-time to put Blackpool two up.
However, Danny Higginbotham headed home firmly from a corner, before Matt Etherington's neat finish and Ricardo Fuller's shot put Stoke ahead.
Ben Burgess kept the drama coming with an equalising header, only for Griffin to snatch the win with a solo effort.
It was a remarkable end to a fantastic cup tie, but Championship side Blackpool fell just short.
Holloway wants Blackpool to emulate Stoke
Home manager Tony Pulis's introduction of Etherington and Fuller made all the difference, inspiring Stoke after the visitors had taken a two-goal lead through Vaughan scoring the first from 25 yards, and then taking the corner from which Clarke nodded in.
Lawrence should have kicked off the comeback from the penalty spot after Tuncay was bundled over by Alex Baptiste and Ashley Asthma, but it was beaten away by keeper Matthew Gilks.
But Higgingbotham rose to meet a corner before Fuller took over - first setting up Etherington to equalise before putting Stoke ahead himself after good work by Tuncay.

The Britannia Stadium might have thought that was it before Burgess's late intervention, and yet there was still time for Griffin to drive forward and fire past Gilks from the edge of the area at the death.
