After being out of action for almost two years now, Kamal Haasan has signed his next big-budget venture Indian 2, a sequel to the 1994 film. To be directed by Shankar, the news has already created quite a stir on social media with fans celebrating the 'blockbuster' reunion.

Basking in the massive success of the television reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, Kamal Haasan will be wrapping up his long-delayed Vishwaroopam 2 and Sabash Naidu before he begins shooting for Indian 2.

"Kamal sir plans to wrap up Sabash Naidu' and only then will he start shooting for Indian 2. He plans to resume work on Sabash Naidu from this month as he is relieved from Bigg Boss commitment," a source close to Haasan told IANS.

"He also hopes to bring out his long-delayed Vishwaroopam 2, which is just a few days away from completion, this year," the source added.

Sabash Naidu, which is a spin-off of Dasavatharam's Balram Naidu, got delayed after Haasan suffered the fracture last year. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Shruti Haasan and Brahmanandam in important roles.

Haasan also announced that his next film would be Thalaivan Irukkiran, a political thriller. However, considering the recent turn of events, the project seems to be highly unlikely to happen.

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Indian 2 will be Haasan's last film before he takes the political plunge. In an interview to a television channel, Kamal Haasan went on the record saying that he's likely to float his own party by the year-end.
