The Broadway production of the award-winning Disney-Cameron Mackintosh musical Mary Poppins plays its final performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre March 3 at 3 PM. Upon closing, the family-friendly musical will have played 2,619 performances.

The Broadway cast currently features features Steffanie Leigh as Mary Poppins, Nicolas Dromard as Bert, Karl Kenzler as George Banks, Megan Osterhaus as Winifred Banks, Valerie Boyle as Mrs. Brill, Janet MacEwen as Bird Woman, Dennis Moench as Robertson Ay, Q. Smith as Miss Andrew and Jonathan Freeman as Admiral Boom. Alternating in the role of Jane Banks are Carly Paige Baron, Maya Jade Frank and Elizabeth Teeter; alternating in the role of Michael Banks are Aidan Gemme, Anthony Pierini and Hayden Signoretti.

Thomas Schumacher, producer and president Disney Theatrical Productions, said in an earlier statement, “Mary Poppins has been a labor of love for Cameron, all of the show’s brilliant creators and those of us at Disney Theatrical for over a decade. But the show’s extraordinary success is due to the 500 plus actors, musicians and stagehands who have brought the show to magical life on Broadway and, most importantly, to the audiences who have fallen in love with Mary, Bert and the Banks family every night. We thank them and New York for six tremendous years.”

Cameron Mackintosh added, “Bringing Mary Poppins to the Broadway stage with Tom & Disney has been a complete joy and I am thrilled that Mary has been able to inhabit the glorious New Amsterdam for over six years and is now playing overseas to ensure the medicine goes down in the most delightful way. 'Til we meet again.”

The hit musical began previews at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd Street) Oct. 14, 2006, before officially opening Nov. 16, 2006.

Mary Poppins, a co-production by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, is based on P.L. Travers' stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film. The score boasts the film's Academy Award-winning music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, with new songs by Olivier Award winners George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

The stage production was created, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh, by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes ("Downton Abbey"), who wrote the book; and Olivier Award-winning director Richard Eyre.
