Audio Transcript of Pierre Gaultier de La Vérendrye 1738



Audio Transcript: In 1738, Pierre Gaultier de La Vérendrye journeyed from the Assiniboine River south to the Missouri River and then to Mandan territory (in present-day North Dakota). He built a fort on the Assiniboine River called Fort La Reine (located near present-day Portage la Prairie).
