So your seriously telling me that “Blue Bloods” 12+ million viewers doesn’t matter AT ALL?!?!? I call bulls**t!
“Live to Flop” seems like it would be a more fitting title. it’s one thing to see the demo go down the tubes, but even the total viewership has reached new lows. It’s still getting more overall viewers than “Skating With the Stars” got- not saying much, I know it.
@Kennedy: obviously it matters to YOU. Isn’t that enough for you?
CBS cant wait for Live to Dance to be over.
Nikita was adjusted down 0.1 and TVD was adjusted up 0.1
Kennedy… Blue Bloods will go back to Friday soon enough and the numbers will be.. acceptable.
@ Kennedy,
You should call the advertisers that decide these things.
Kennedy- I wouldn’t say *at all*. It’s possible that in the event there are shows getting similar ratings in the demo, that perhaps the network may look at overall viewership numbers.
i remember tracking ratings back in the mid-80/early 90s, when I was 10-16 years old, and it was all about household ratings and share. Not that the demo wasn’t always important, but the household rating and share were the numbers that were focused on. And then in the early 90s, total millions of viewers got more attention and soon became the primary focus.
why does everyone hate live to dance so much. Dance is amazing. I hate the show and hope its cancelled because their are better dance competitions on tv. But I watch it.
@JR35, they were the numbers available to the major media, but even then advertisers were focusing on young adults.
In most cases, even for CBS, things that get big viewer numbers also have good to great adults 18-49 ratings (Idol, Big Bang, 2.5 Men, Dancing with the Stars) etc.
I don’t hate the show- I watched it a couple of times, but it didn’t hold my interest and make me want to watch again. James, you hate the show but watch it? That’s some dance dedication.
Oh, definitely, Robert- they had to set their advertising dollars with some key info. I also fondly recall when sweeps months were really BIG deals back then. Not that they’re not now (as they still set ad rates based on ratings during those periods, correct?), but of course they were bigger and better back when people watched more network TV than they do now.
darn it cougar town. 0.1 away from tying last season’s thanksgiving series low. please do better next week.
Cougar Town original = The Middle repeat(s). I like the show and I’m not trying to trash it, but that is downright nasty!
Blue Bloods still below Good Wife numbers; Live to Dance (btw that title doesn’t even make sense) is thankfully ending next week. CBS is real lucky that Survivor didn’t tank in that time slot because it looks like it’s jinxed for just about everything else.
The Nikita/TVD situation is interesting. We’ll see how that shakes up tomorrow. Finally some ratings excitement from The CW.
I know Off The Map is not posting solid ratings, but it’s retention out of Cougar Town is not bad. I think when Mr.Sunshine premiers Off The Map will increase.
@SJ, CBS looked like scheduling geniuses in the fall with the move of Survivor to Weds and BBT to Thurs. But a big part of the scheduling genius grade will be how well Survivor holds up against Idol.
American Idol was pretty stable versus last week because Modern Family was in repeat.
After 2 minutes of BB last night I got bored and switched to the supposed to be recorded episodes of MANswers. I so hate politics. I’m starting to lose interest on BB.
It just gets worse for cougar town. This is coming from a person who enjoys it
For anyone who cares this weeks new episodes of Smallville and Supernatural have been bumped for repeats of TVD and Nikita.
Repeats of SV and SPN (episodes 11) will air next Wednesday in place of the scheduled repeats of TVD and Nikita.
New episodes of SV and SPN will commence next Friday.
Dont ask why, I have no clue.
@Robert …. I could be narcissistic and say that my opinion is superior but Im not the one that decided which demos/numbers matter. I’m just curious. I know that the 18-49 is the “money” demo, and Ive seen (HERE @ TVBYTHENUMBERS) that the viewership really doesn’t matter, don’t believe that networks …. all they care about are the demos.
So …….
