Work begins to remove the canopy
Work begins to remove the canopy

Work has begun to remove the canopy over Coventry's Lady Godiva statue.

The city council took the decision to remove the canopy after a survey revealed residents did not like the look of it.

The work began overnight and it will be a couple of weeks before the canopy is removed completely.

The council has moved to reassure residents the work will not affect the city's Christmas lights switch-on scheduled for 16 November.
