Wikia - creating communities

Wikicities has received $4 million funding and relaunched as Wikia! Please read our press release for more information.

All Wikicities are currently being moved from the wikicities.com domain to the wikia.com domain.

We will endeavour to make sure the old URLs continue working so no links will be broken, and users of your wikis should find they are automatically redirected to the correct place.

As you may know, Wikia already hosts some of the world's largest wikis on hundreds of topics ranging from politics to pets. Since the site's launch in November 2004, over 1000 Wikia have been created and edited by over 20,000 registered users in over 35 languages. However, over the past year, the name Wikicities has often caused confusion, with many people believing it was a site for city guides rather than wikis about any topic.

We hope you the users of your wikis will find the new name Wikia easier to type, and less confusing.
