Ranbir Kapoor to play father and son in Shamshera, his first double role: Report
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has quite a few big projects in his kitty and the gangster drama Shamshera is one of them. The actor will be seen playing a dacoit in the film, set in the pre-independence era. Now a report in Mid-Day claims that the actor may be seen in a double role for the first time.
According to the report, the actor will play both a father and his son in the film. A source told the media daily, “The film revolves around a dacoit tribe that is fighting for its rights and independence from the British Raj. Apart from playing the protagonist, Ranbir might also be seen as the central character’s father. He has been shooting for both roles simultaneously. This is the first time in his 12-year-long career so far that Ranbir will play a double role.”
The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in prominent roles. Vaani was last seen opposite Ranveer Singh in Befikre. She will be playing the role of a travelling dancer in the film and has been learning Kathak for the role. Shamshera is directed by Karan Malhotra and is scheduled to release in July, 2020.
The film is also expected to clash with Ranbir’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt’s Telugu debut RRR. That film is being directed by SS Rajamouli of Baahubali fame.
Ranbir and Alia have been making joint public appearances at awards shows and events. They were seen at the recent Filmfare Awards, holding hands and indulging in a little PDA. Ranbir’s mother Neetu had even shared a picture of the two from the event on her Instagram account and had captioned it, “AND moments like these make you forget all the stress. congratulations so proud n happy #filmfareawards #bestactor#bestactress.”
