Costs judge

A judge sitting in the Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO) in London who deals with costs. Costs judges also act as district judges of the Principal Registry of the Family Division, and as judges of the County Court, when assessing costs from those courts. (A Regional Costs Judge is a district judge who has been appointed to sit in both the County Court and the District Registry of the High Court to carry out detailed assessments in most of the larger and more difficult cases in each region of England and Wales.) See the Senior Courts Costs Office Guide for more information.
