Kyojin no Doshin 1, (Doshin the Giant 1), for the
N64/64DD, Walk Through and literal text translation
by "Teary Eyes" Anderson.

Introduction

I've tried to make this walk through as simple as
possible to understand, however keeping in mind that
I try to keep to the arrangement of the Japanese words
as much as possible. "Doshin" means to whomp,
thump or pound. The title of the game in strictly
English without being rearranged would be, "Giant
person is Whomper 1." In this and "Doshin the giant,
Rescue From the Front, Toddlers Tinkling at the Large
gathering place" Doshin is the "Love Giant" and the
red version is known as the "Hate giant." Once
adapted for the Game Cube the red giant get's wings
and the name "Jashin" meaning "Jump" in other words
the two giants are named "Thump and Jump." The name
of the island is "Barudo" which in Japanese means
"Bald." Sodoru which seems to also have been the
name of a early Buddhist Monk and his name was
"Barudo Sodoru" as he says in the beginning and at
the end, he and the island are one. There are a number
of changes in this version and the Game Cube version,
yet both are pretty easy to figure out, and this
walk through will give you more of an idea of what is
said, and what is happening in the game. A cheaper way
to enjoy this game is to get the English Game Cube
version and use a thing called a "FreeLoader", it
allows you to play the Pal version games on a USA
television, without modifying your system and for this
game the screen flickering doesn't seem to happen.

I've tried to show what the differences are from the
Game Cube version, whether you bought the game or
simply want to know how it compares. You must also
use this 64DD disk in order to play the "Doshin the
Giant, Rescue From the Front" and I've tried to make
this guide with those things in mind. In a way this
is a bit like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Sim City
put together, with a bit of "Yoshi's Story". This
guide also has spoilers in it, the ending is pretty
easy to reach, simply help the people create 16
differant monuments, so where I felt the information
is needed I've placed it in the walk through rather
then putting it at the end. I started the translations
by clipping and pasting Japanese text and searching
for each letter one by one but eventually got to where
I could type them quite well, however there are still
sections that my translation will be poorer then others,
the two places most noticeable are the "Sleeping Room"
and the "Morning" messages for Doshin Island.

The translations of words and their meanings is presented
in the Japanese order, mainly using the nouns and
subjects and tossing out the verbs and such to make it
easier to understand if you have been trying to translate
parts of it yourself. I've never been very good at English
even though it's my only language so mostly it is a
literal translation of each word as best as I could make
them without putting them into perfect English sentences,
they are not as they would appear in the English Game Cube
version and I've tried not to copy or rewrite the words so
they'd appear as they do in the English version of the
game. I've tried to respect the copy rights of the makers
of this game and not make a perfect copy of their game,
only to explain some of it, and help you to be able to
read the messages when they appear. Param/Nintendo made
this game and all trademarks, on characters and the such are
owned by them.

I hope this will help you enjoy this game and also the
Game Cube version if you have that.
--"Teary Eyes" Anderson

What You'll Need To Play This Game.

First of all you'll need the main N64 system, with a
Expansion Pak, and then the 64DD disk drive. If you don't
have a Expansion Pak the 64DD will bring up a screen
that says;

Error: 44

Memory Expansion Pak, correctly opens this, it is inserted?

For details, instruction book read please.

A second controller (to move Doshin out of Frame, for snap
shots) is optional.

!!! Game warning, Endless day!!!

If you play the game and save in the middle of the day,
then reset the 64DD's date to before the time you saved,
the game will not be saved at the end of a day like normal,
if you fall off the world, or continue in any way, the game
will start where you saved before you changed the time
backward, there are only two ways to correct this, change
the date of the 64DD to a time after your last save (you'll
have to guess, there is no display of when the game was
saved) or reset the games save data and begin a completely
new game. Changing the 64DD's date one year ahead usually
works, (To change 64DD's time see last item in "Good things
to know" section).

Day off, Skip Days cheat.

Day Off can be skipped by changing the 64DD's add 30 minutes
more, and that day will be past. This happens every 5 days,
but the 5 days is started at random, it might be Game day 2
or 4 for example Starting a new day the red screen appears
and this is the second Doshin day, but you haven't played
the game in 5 days the message will say, day 5 and 10 will
be the same type of Day off for the people, where they won't
do any work.

Day off, for people, don't save rest, take disk out, change
64DD's time, then go back--

Welcome back 2nd day of yours

The following days passed for the people

day 1 of villagers this happened

2 day that happened

3

4

5 Day off, for people
....
10 Day off, for people

This also has the added effect that if a monument is began,
and it will take multiple days to complete, after a day ends
you can Change the 64DD's time to 4 or more days ahead and
wait for the people to go back to work, and if enough time
was skipped, the people will finish the building in under
3 minutes, this also has the danger that there will be no
trees around their homes, the homes will disappear and then
shortly after they begin building the monument in that
3 minutes they'll abandon the monument to work on homes.
This will happen when multiple monuments are built at the
same time, you'll have to wait for each monuments animated
scene of it being finished, and this can cause the other
monuments to not be completed before the people go to work
on there homes, change the 64DD's time so extra day in the
game is added, and go between 4-11, adding a day until it
allows all the monuments to be finished, it seems to have
the same pattern of built abandoned monuments for each day,
so if it happens then, change the time and try another day,
if you press rest and try the same day over and over it seems
to keep the same pattern of built abandoned monuments, all
my test of this trick have worked but on different days, and
it takes a while to find the right times to change the 64DD's
time to, because the clocks always going.

* Story, from the instructions

Here is Bald island. It is not recorded even in the maps,
this island which floats in a tropical region. In this
island for some time conversations has been starting of
certain rumors existing.

So, Giant they say appears is the rumor.

As for that, morning over the horizon, from a distance
appeared, with which the sun was blocked, by a strange
giant. And the following day, with the morning sun
both appear.

It appears there in the horizon in the morning, and the
mysterious giant also disappears with the evening sun.
And and the following day, the morning sun it appears with.

Sodoru

Is an onlooker of the history talking about happenings
and event in the island. He seems to know a lot, many
of the things are not talked about though.

The People

The Inhabitants who live in Bald island. The giant to
them seems hard to understand, the giant they come to
like and fear it.

Giant

With the morning sun, in the island, it reveals it's
mysterious existence. People's feelings are taken in,
like food energy released keeps him growing.

(A) Nice things to know, before starting.

In Doshin 1 people have a entire day of fun, that the
people don't work, this can happen on any day, I've had
it happen on the 2nd day. The Game Cube version, they have
a separate time each day that the people take off from
work to play. If people aren't working or saying anything
with their little speech-thought balloons, they could be
on there day of fun, or there is one person off to the
side of the village, that is a member of the village, and
his one need must be completed before the rest of the
village will work.

Gather 10 trees together to make a "Tree Paradise" that
is surrounded be green light, stand in it's center and
small balls of green will circle you and cause you to
grow, and they will remove some or all of the trees,
depending on how large you are.

If you wait one day after making a "Tree Paradise" 10 trees
standing near each other, the trees will multiply.

Press the 't' shaped control pad any time during play to see
the map, it will shrink to a smaller map and go into the
right bottom corner of the screen, it will then disappear a
few seconds later, or to make it disappear at any time press
the control pad again.

In the Game Cube Version, you need only 8 trees and they
automatically disappear bringing up one additional tree, without
having to wait until the day ends. You can't grow in the Game
Cube version by standing in the center, but a special flower
is born from the tree paradise, and it is then needed to make
the monument into a proper monument. Which means in the Game
Cube version your slowed down to only having one town build a
one monument at a time, only after the monument with the
flower over it, is started will another flower be made.

Press "Z and A" or "Z and B" to raise or lower the land quickly.

After one minute of standing in the same place Doshin will lay
down and go to sleep. After being asleep for 3 minutes Doshin's
day will automatically be saved.

Boxes contents aren't decided until it is open, bring it where
you like and save before opening it, this way almost every box
can be a tree.

When walking off the edge of the world Doshin will fall slowly
while turning and a old style mono tone plays 'The Funeral
March' and a "Game Over" message appears, the day ends. In the
Game Cube version Doshin falls not even below the ocean before
the screen freezes and turns black with a electronic squawking
sound and the screen then says "Game Over" in small type on
the left side of the screen.

In Doshin 1 if you insert controller 2 you can move Doshin,
but the camera angle will stay where it was, this make it
rather nice for taking pictures of the landscape without Doshin
in the frame.

Press the down "C" button repeatedly to enter character's point
of view. Doshin 1 you can walk around Bald Island in the
Character's view. This also allows you to walk around the island
without squishing people or opening boxes while walking over
them. The Game Cube version you can not use first
person perspective.

In Doshin 1 you can't squish people until your on your 3rd level
of height, and you can avoid squashing them altogether and not
open boxes when stepping on them at any size by going into
character's view. In Game Cube version, even without growing you
end up stepping on people if you walk around them and don't
move slowly.

The Game Cube Version you can pick up fish, from a shallow pool
of water, to catch birds catch them as they swoop down to get a
fish. When holding a bird and letting him go it will fly in a
circle and nest in Doshin's hair for a while, if the bird is
holding a fish, Doshin ends up having a fish sticking out of his
face, "Fish-Face Doshin" :) Other animals can be picked up and
the corrals can be moved to a island with only a tree and more
animals will appear, sort of animal raising.

In both versions the people can swim, but in the Game Cube
version if more then one person is swimming in a area they
will link together and synchronize swim in a circle.

Naughties are ghost like people under sheets that seem to appear
after you've made people angry, and you are visiting another
village that is near to the angry people.

In Doshin 1 the end days sleeping room after a day ends the
villagers bring him into a house, like a old maze-racing
game the villagers gather around him and talk about him. In
Game Cube Version there is a drawing of the villagers standing
near a house, looking up and talk about him.

Almost every house and structure that people build in Doshin 1
has a box under it, save before lifting the object, and you
can almost always get a box of trees. In the Game Cube version
under houses is the only other place to find boxes besides
them falling out of the sky.

Nearly about ever six times you grow larger in Doshin 1 there
is a disaster, it seems to be linked to the number of hearts
and skulls you get. In the Game Cube version the disasters
are a bit more rare and you don't have one every few times
you grow.

Doshin 1 has boxes that are small and Large and the large
ones can only be opened after you've reached the fourth level
of Doshin's height. In the Game Cube version all the boxes
are small.

In Doshin 1 you can use the "C" left and right buttons to
avoid the hearts or skulls after the people have released
them, giving you a chance to walk away before you'd grow
big, or to get away if you know a disaster will occur if you
get any more hearts or skulls. Simply turn the controller in
the 45 degree angle in the opposite direction that you use
the "C" button the hearts or skulls are too slow, and won't
attach them selves to the side of the screen until you stop.
There are two heart-skull counters one around the edge of the
screen and a mini version in the upper left corner of the
screen. The mini counter isn't in the Game Cube version.

The taking pictures button and the changing giant's mood
buttons, (from love giant to hate giant), are reversed on the
Game Cube version. So if you get used to playing one game and
switch to the other you could accidentally take a picture
instead of change to the other giant.

In Doshin 1 a person gives you one heart when you pick them
up and you'll have to set them down, or walk through water
holding them under and get skull, and then when walk out of
the water before they'll give you another heart. In the Game
Cube version the person continues sending you hearts as long
as you are holding them, or skulls if holding them underwater.

In Doshin 1 if you get a full hearts or skulls meter and grow
while holding something, you automatically drop whatever your
holding, this also happens when your holding something and a
cut scene play, a disaster occurs, a monument is created, or
you grow. Then you have to search for the person as they walk
away. This doesn't happen in the Game Cube Version.

There are only guys, in Doshin 1, in the Game Cube Version
women and animals where added. In Doshin 1 there are only
fish and birds, for Game Cube horses, cows, chickens, sheep,
and pigs where also added, you can pick up all these animals
in the game cube version, in Doshin 1 the birds and fish pass
right through you.

In Doshin 1 a villager goes out fishing to bring back food
for the village. In the Game Cube version the villagers
build corrals, that make animals appear.

In Doshin 1 at least some of the people abandon the village
after a disaster, and at other times, making you track them
down, for Game Cube people very rarely leave the village
unless, they are thrown from it by a tornado.

When people leave the villages they usually go to the upper
left, and many times if caught in water will swim up to
that corner and get stuck. In Game cube version if a person
is in the water near a town they will swimming in circles
linking themselves together to make a Olympic art type
swimming circle, or simply to the shore on the side of
their village.

Doshin 1 he has only 5 hairs on his head, in Game Cube
version her has a sort of pony tail cut short with a thick
lump of hair.

The only changes to the monuments from Doshin 1 to the Game
Cube version. In Doshin 1 the four layered rock monument is
the red tribes monument, but in the Game Cube version it is
replaced by a figure "X" monument and the four layered rock
is now the un-inspired monument that is gotten when you
didn't bring the people a special flower, before the monument
was completed. The second gate, and the Colosseum monuments of
Doshin 1 are replaced in the Game Cube version by a eagle
statue, and a sphinx, there is also added hate verions of
each including Bable's Tower.

In Doshin 1 at the monument album you can zoom in on the
monuments you can zoom in and out with the Up and Down "C"
buttons, and move under, above, and around it with the 3D
stick. In Doshin for Game Cube in the Monument viewing area
you can't zoom into the monuments, or look at them from
below, however you can still tilt the view up and around.

In Doshin 1 two of the disasters are bigger 10 rain cloads,
and 10 ground fires, compared to the Game Cube version, one
rain cloud and one fire, but in Game Cube version the volcano
shoots out lava balls that you need to clean up after the
Disasters, and they make you super jump when jumping inside
the volcano.

The water in Doshin 1 is rather hard to see into unless your
camera view is under the water, the Game Cube version the
lighting is more realistic, and the water acts as a mirror
(reflecting the sky and light) if you look strait down on
it, but is clear if seen at a angle.

Game cube version has a way to sit down and slide down hills,
in Doshin 1 only when walking down a steep hill and almost
falling can you press back on the controller and cause Doshin
to sit down, however in Doshin 1 he can't slide.

In Game Cube version the center of the town is marked with
the ground being colored the same as the tribes that are
in it, and this is where the monument will be made, in
Doshin 1 there is no such mark.

The Game Cube Version has hidden spots that are only visible
when you pick up a lazy person, with a hula hoop around
them, mostly these spots are volcanoes.

The Game Cube version has alternate islands that are
playable after you have completed the game.

There is a Japanese Strategy guide and a "Official Fan Book"
available for this game as well as a sound track, and a
news letter, called "Giant My Newspaper" for Randnet
members. This game was made shortly before it's companion
64DD game "Doshin the Giant Rescue from the Front" which
was released about 5 months later. In the Official Fan Book
there are preproduction photos of a game in Development
called "Kyojin" or just simply "The Giant," in this book
dated February 26 1997, and concept drawings where the
people were pulling carts with blocks on them, and other
images of the giant as he was staking blocks. Shirts other
things were also made to advertise this game. Some pictures
of these items can be found at the "64DD Laboratory" web site.
They also describe this game as "Mario 64+Populous=Doshin 1."

The strategy guide for the game has a map with 37 villages
marked and it says "Barudo Island Perfect Map" and so I
assume this is the maximum number of villages you can make.

There was a official web site called Kyojin.com and parts of
it can still be see at http://web.archive.org/ click a link
after April 14 2000 to find the English version, most of the
images and Japanese text appears to have been lost on
the other pages.

Both Doshin and Jashin also appear in
"Super Smash Bros. Melle" for Game Cube as prizes.

If you've change the date of the 64DD to January, 1 you can
now see a new message that says "New Year's Greetings", if
you set a new record at one of the End day statistics, where
it would normally says "A New Inscribed Record." This message
doesn't appear at the end of the first day because the first
day is were the record limit is set, and the second day and
onward is when these messages would appear.

To Change or set the 64DD's date and time don't have a disk
in the drive or a cartridge in the main N64, and when The N64
logo appears hold the 'A' Button for about 5 seconds. A see
through grey area will appear on the screen with the date and
time, and descriptions of how to change them. Press right and
left on the cross shaped pad or 3D stick to move from year to
month and day, then right again to the time in hours and
minutes. To change the settings press up or down. On the hour
setting, the straight line with two vertical lines on it's top
that are at 45 degree angles away from each other, is the A.M.
setting and the more complicated is the P.M. Press 'A' to
save and exit the Settings screen, or just press 'B' to Exit
without saving the changes. This information is also available
on page 8 in the 64DD instruction manual.

Monument Album
<!!!Warning Spoilers!!!>

Flat Stacked Type Stone Structure

I am the red giant rock, stacked and raised by the people,
made as a monument. This red rock was cut through, for the
building structure materials, that were used. More materials
in large quantity where left over, what would be built? By
the way, my shape somehow, doesn't it seem by inferior means?
How? How? How? More items are to be designed, and wanted
by them.

Gate Type Stone Structure

I am, a stone structure. A Stone Structure of giant stone
was stacked up, and was made as a primitively built thing.
People intension for my shape, not sure whether or not
they knew how to make it. My idea was to say this. 2 of
these posts where risen then set on top a giant stone, a
sky table was represented, if you think about it, people's
natures are imitated, a artificial natural environment was
made, is this how it began? If we assume that, I'm of
cultural importance and this is my existence. From nature
independence was considered sprouting of life.

Hole stone structure

I am a stone structure, however~. My characteristics, by
the way are, mid-way to my center is a hole that is empty!
Maybe sort of a feminine nature, I believe is indicated?
Don't you think. And then, a fixed sphere with center
punched in. However, my hole in the center, is where their
treasured youth is mercifully kept, in the island this is
the rumor. On the island, here and there, from my center
comes to pass that the people gain more strength. In my
own life it is a power that I don't have~. It's all
superstition! It calls.. and it does... People can even
slide~.

Pillar type Stone structure

My sphere object of rock is propped up from the foundation,
this is what makes up the stone structure. Sometimes, the
foundation is wobbly, almost causing a tilt of the sphere,
to me that would be a terrible thought, always, for one's
life there is a struggle of urgency. The people pinned
this under as a sign of honor in this case.

Meeting Place

I, when compared to a stone structure, am more advanced in
building construction materials. The People's intelligence
has become more bountiful with their skillful minds, gained
this advantage. My inside section, to the village is
important so minds reasoning can be unfolded. The center
is entered only by 4 person leader elders. Their minds
reasoning begins when others get acquainted, if this is not
permitted. Their minds reasoning contains a concealed
secret....... However, for now teaching they get. Four
Cornered table on each side they sit. And, little by
little rock was mixed and joined together. In their minds
reasoning it is relatively quite, when taken on, that's
how it goes. However, sometimes, (penalty punishment is
held) and so the mysterious charm was spoken.

Geyser of water

My splashing, always there is water throws out. Pyu- Pyutsi-
<Spouting out type sound> with that. A large ground area was
lifted and pushed back down with the strong force for the
island's agriculture business and drinking water, this is
beneficial use of water resources, surprisingly only small
amounts can be found. Because of that, the entire island
actively use this well that was dug, for that reason. I from
the very beginning was simply a well however, with the ability
to remember the workmen were also residents, and to their
great lawns decoration was given, with such a
beautiful appearance.

Sights to look for Tower

Piece by piece the bricks where stacked up making me. The
entire body was given various patterns of the island's
story and was engraved. To my head section the town's
people can climb. And, in these surroundings, accidents
can always be looked out for. The concealed secret however
is, my inside section is hollow, and then this one of a
kind concealed secret can be studied and researched. As
for me I contain everything, that is known but, for being
public, it's opening should be held back I think. Because
of that... whoops, carelessly it was almost said. For me,
more then nothing should be said. From now on a sight it
will become. .......

Grave's Tombstone

I am a funerary jar, the shape is truthfully that of a
grave's tombstone. On this island when a person dies a
flower's life it changes into, so it is said. And so, with
a jar's center the flower petal joins this thought as a
decoration, the sky towards it they expand. And so the
grieving becomes something lovely.

Rock Face

My, person's face is the design that was attached. This
is, the people's, giant imitation that was made, don't
you think? I'm, appointed as a sight marker, for this
use. Surely when I'm around, there is a accustomed happy
feelings, isn't there?
My, love and charm this is because.

Natural Figure Pole

My rock is a made into a gigantic pole. At the top like
a umbrella frame work it was made. Surely here cloth was
stretched, from strong sunlight it is an escape. However,
regretfully the cloth supply was not ready, at this point
there is only the framework.

Wooden Elephant

Well, well about this~ I'm the elephant's image! The
Reason is, is, is... Certainly the preparation planning
person joke like it was probably. Joke like , yet bad
person they where not. For such a reason, it is said by
whom? Trunk it hangs. My lengthy nose children use as a
slide. With all good friends playing it is, for me
pleasant. Sometimes from the bottom upwards it is
climbed by the children also, success at it, children
still haven't yet accomplished. One's farthest beginning
was a success for the children's reward as a present
to them.

Triumphant Gate

I am a splendid gate. In bronze it was manufactured.
Around here buildings status is different. Simultaneously
it is not like anything before. After all with bronze
it was able to, because this. The town's people, with
their lasting and lasting, I was made. Well done. However,
I'm the true characteristics are not as a gate. The
reality is, below foot if the magnetic stone was pulled
out, by the time ahh could be said, the posts could
crumble down, it has a heavy, heavy upper section
decoration, at a fierce speed it would fall, with it's
official set up. The reality is, I, could be a trap.

Coliseum

I'm, good looking. So huge. As for me, I stands out.
I, myself say that it is embarrassing however. I am the
Coliseum. This building was constructed at the farthest
beginning of time, with sports competing skill, status of
fighting skill, is a large meeting place to keep track of,
now with lots of multipurpose events to keep track. Most
recently musician concerts are held here. Clear to say
that it glows. Performance people and customers, as one
section is stacked up but, the reality is I'm on guard
at my best height! As for the echo, all of it can be
circulated, possibly. In other words, my personality
prospers more with the events success, yet that is a
concealed secret. From here on, it lasts.

Pyramid

One thing, with a million pieces of stone that were
staked up, I was probably made. Firmly inside it was
counted, but it was forgotten. Anyway in a way that is
different from counting giant stones they became my
simple pointed corners where reached for this
geographical form. When it is inspected. Where ever it
is seen, there is no shame. Now, now, there is a better
view being given.

Above Ground Sketch

I am, one thing, some something. I, myself don't
understand it well either. However the giant was in
mind and recognized, as this was made, for certain.
Giant was to be invited, was it's purpose, or possibly
to avoid him. Anyway it isn't understood. However, it
is with significant meaning that is for certain. Only
that much is known, yet it is my pride.

Babel's Tower

I am what the island people made from their most great
building materials. I am what the island people with
their wisdom joined clearly, the final most attainable
point to be reached. I am what the island people possess
with their toiling at work and strength, completely
reaching this end, the people acquired this power to
represent these building materials. However, I was the
island's complete objective, a disastrous accident
was invited into existence. Well, what an irony that was.

<Sleeping Room Comments>

You walk too much

The Ground is indifferent to us

Was Hungry, brightened when meeting

Breaking, breaking

Jump too much, don't you think?

Need food and cloths or I leave

You take it in, yet that was already been tried

Coming and Going

For him it is the end

Giant to him we are like insects

Body is sprinkled and filled, would it be replaced

Actually it is not included

He takes in our feelings

I have something to ask

Try jumping from here

Your rather small

Giant I dislike

However from now on this is...

Have poor sense of direction

To return it is possible

Appears not to be like a god

Great danger giant is like

More kind he becomes

Again you do the same things

I promise my support

Is it as empty as a bowl?

Brings one to tear for the common people

The rain causes a fighting attitude

The end is worth it

Beauty is precious

Quite unpleasant guy.

You give nothing even to me?

Tiny, Tiny, Tiny, Tiny

This is what you want, becoming cared for

Inspiration is insufficient today

Is this your finish?

See what you've done

Yesterday you where good...

After this what more can be said

It felt relieved in death

Freedom there is none

There was a point when he was interesting

It will be preserved even tomorrow

It is understood that he is ancient

It is his height that is not believable

I'm only doing this

Walk and look about while resting

Dose he care only half way?

I'll remember...

Understand that a dream of a dream this is not

Nothing to be ashamed of

Will this continue?

This is the way it is surly

Shows anger and feelings with the fist.

Careless you are when walking

Like hammer falling we it's quite funny

To people return me.

Painful, when over a hill someone is sent

Jealousy runs deep

While traveling holding is possible

He is amazing guy

You are useless

Was it good or was it bad guy?

My most strong wish is peace!

I thought he tried his best

Although work is possible, there was none

People say of him...

He is not coming

Sometime punishment will descend

It is good that you waited

It is a friend forever

For me there is no shelter

About a person dieing what do you think

Jumping about you use too much

I don't believe at all

(E) The Walk Through

I have arranged the information in this walk through by
days, and what can be accomplished in each day, you can
take longer if you wish but try to complete that section
before moving on to the next day's section.

Day 1
After you press start on the title screen, a animated
scene will begin of,

Darkness at first, then as it gets lighter the sky is
seen and then the view turns and is looking forward to
an island is seen through the early morning fog. The
island is seen closer the mist departs, a pole, in the
shape of a arrowhead type anchor thing, pointing upward
(it's supposed to look like the head, shoulders, arms,
and middle of the giant), and some people are seen
sleeping on the ground. Over the sea the sun begins
to rise and out of the water a yellow giant stands up
making a big wave. Then he is seeing walking onto the
island near the pole.

Sodoru says in the text messages;
Well... it is said at this time, that the giant walked
towards the island's people. At their very first
encounter with the yellow colored giant. Being seen by
the people, the giant's appearance was surprising. His
size was rather small surprisingly. How large will he
become this 1. Now, although small the giant can become
larger. The people's beautiful <Hearts> and their
hatred <skulls> his body they enter. Then the giant's
body grows larger. One entire circle will cause you
to grow, this is needed.

While the message plays Doshin will automatically walk
over to a tree pick it up, bring it to the people, and
toss it down. Save after the game allows you to play,
pause the game and chose the bottom option. The
options are,

Game Return to.
Map.
Game Exit and Save.

From this start position, press the control 't' shaped
button to see the map, then go west to the group of
trees there, walk around to the two south-most big tree
in this west side of the island, walk so your slightly
south of them, yet standing between them, and you'll
hear a chime and some green ball like things will
appear out of the ground, stand still and they will
circle you, and eventually make you grow bigger. Now
go to the far West tree in this group, stay on it's west
side and you'll be able to grow again without having
to touch it. There should still be two or so big trees
here after you grow the second time, stand walk around
near them to find where to grow for a third time,
depending on how you were positioned the first two times
the third place to grow is slightly different each time,
but in the same general area. Then move to the group of
trees just to the south of the pole, walk to the
south-most of these tall trees, and allow it to cause
you to grow for a fourth time. There should be one tall
tree still standing, walk onto it being slightly to the
north-west and if you find the right place it will cause
you to grow a fifth time. There should be still one
group of large trees on the East of this start island,
leave them alone, you'll use them later.

(If you stand in the same place for one minute Doshin
will lay down and go to sleep. After being asleep for
3 minutes Doshin's day will automatically be saved. Try
to keep active other then standing still for the trees
to cause you to grow so the game won't be saved where
and when it is not needed.)

Now go to the people on this small start point
island and press 'A' button to pick up a person, while
still holding 'A' (this will keep the person in your
hands, release the button to drop him) walk north and
through the small area of water separating this island
from the main island. Drop him on the ground near the
villagers of this new village slightly above the start
island, and do the same with the other people on the
Start island, so there are no people on it.

Now walk north off this small starting island and
continue North-East, (ignore the tall trees to the
West after crossing the water you'll use these later)
there will be a group of hills on your left see another
group of trees, grow again. There will be another group
of trees left and right, and at the center valley of
these two hills will be more tall trees, stand at the
south most of these trees to grow a sixth time. There
should still be a few tall trees left, go over to them
and grow for the seventh time. Continue North-west
passing a red flag, and slightly farther west and
north there is another group of tall trees, on a hill,
stand there to grow for your eighth time, this is now
the limit of Doshin's height, he can't grow any larger,
but he can still absorb the trees and hearts. You'll
notice when he is at full height his footsteps on ground
have an echo sound to them.

You'll now be slightly north of the Center-Right
village on the map. Take all these people to the
village that you did the other, there are now to
places that are now without villages that once had
them, Center-Right of map, and the starting island.

Once these two places have been emptied of their
people, walk to the Yellow village at the Top Right
of the map. Walk to the center-most village on the
map, and go straight north when reaching the an upper
main island follow the coast line, and about half way
between where you arrived on the new island and where
the upper-left village is, you'll see a flag, and
slightly to the west of that flag will be a yellow
villager on a hill. Pick him up and take him to the
starting Island, where the starting pole is. Set him
down here and he will begin a new village there. The
Yellow villager should be moved as soon as possible
because when you begin building monuments, ever now
and then your playing will be interrupted by a cut
scene of the different stages of the building of the
monuments, and this cut scene will cause you to drop
anything in your hands, including the person you are
holding, and if they land in the water, and swim away,
you might not be able to find them again, when your
playing continues.

Some places the green and yellow, people will not stay
when they build villages they will build one or two
things and abandon them for some reason, so experiment
if trying to place them at different places then I
mention. The red villages seem to be able to build
anywhere.

Now that there is a new Yellow village at the start
island, go to the Far left village on the map and bring
one of the Green villagers to where the Center-left
Village was. On the way to the Green village bridge
the large gap of water between the main island and the
far East island, by raising the ground with 'Z' button
and 'A' button, hold these while walking and you can
move around while raising the ground. (To lower the
ground press 'Z' and 'B' you can also walk around
doing this.) Once on the far left island follow the
valley into a large open area, and there will be a
group of green villagers there, pickup one of them and
take it to where the Center-left village was. After
you have placed him there stay and wait for him to go
to a certain spot and ask for a tree. Pick up a tree
and drop it near him when he asks for it, this will
cause him to build a rock garden, (if a village is
established and the peoples needs are not met, or their
Houses are destroyed this can cause the people to usually
leave the village) with the building of the rock garden,
it's more likely that the person will stay at the village
until you help him build other things. After he has
built his first rock garden and went somewhere else to
begin another building project save the game. From here
on you'll be racing the clock to finish the 4 monuments
that I've listed for Day 1, this new green village will
take the longest to develop because they start with the
rock gardens first and not the houses, when the houses
are made more people are created and things get
built faster.

Green Village, area and monument layout.

The green village will make two rock gardens near the
center of the valley where they're village is, then
they will go north and west to a small peninsula that
is separated from the Center Middle village, cover the
green villagers side of the peninsula with green land
by placing trees there, and along the coast line
between that and where the rock gardens where made,
this should only take about 6 more trees, they will
make four houses on the peninsula, and then a amusement
type building, then next to the rock gardens they will
create flags and finally the monument. Pick up a tree and
stand on the south most rock garden at your full height
and look at the map to make sure Doshin is facing where
the white dot is, toss the tree so it goes about where
the white dot would be, toss a total of 10 trees here,
this should be exactly where the monument will be built.
Doing all this you can have most of this done before the
green person begins his first house. Return after
helping the other villages to make sure the trees are
in the right place, but if you did it right you won't
need to return, and the Green Monument will be started.

Yellow Village, area and monument layout.

Yellow village should be the next village you help to
become as close to monument building as possible, both
the red and blue are quite quick, because they have
lots of people, but yellow monument will need to
actually be finished by the end of the day, even if
none of the others are. Only the north half of the
starting island will have anything built on it, so
try to make sure the north coast and inland to a
half way point is covered with green land. First
the flags will be built then 2 Houses, and 4 Gardens,
and one flower-bed. Once those are completed the
Yellow monument will begin slightly to the south of
where the Starting island's, East tall trees are,
move all these trees one 'entire green land space'
south. If you did it right you won't need to return,
and the Yellow Monument will be started.

Red Village, area and monument layout.

The Red village should have it's south shore covered
with trees, and the peninsula stretches out towards
the yellow village. The following will be built 2 houses
and 8 gardens, 3 flower beds, the flags and the monument
which will be made on the very edge of the peninsula,
parts of it will extend westward over the water, throw
the 10 trees here, the land doesn't need to be raised.
There will plenty of trees next to the peninsula, at
the top of the hill, to use. If you did it right you
won't need to return, and the Red Monument will
be started.

Blue Village, area and monument layout.

The Blue Village will need the land raised slightly to
cause the swamp type areas to become land, make sure
when raising the land not to connect the land between
the Green village and the Blue, they might cross the
gap and the colors of the village might change, and
might cause a monument you didn't want built to begin
to be built. From the flag northward, all the East
of this mini island will need to be covered with green
land. 3 houses, 4 rock gardens and the other 3 flags
will be built, while standing at the pole throw 10 trees
northward, this is where the monument will be built. Place
one tree half way between the flag and the house to make
green area for the other flags to be built.
If you did it right you won't need to return, and the
Blue Monument will be started.

As the villagers build a new house more people of that
tribe will appear and help to build other things. Once
they have built enough items they will begin to put up
a total of four flags and then shortly after begin a
monuments, there are two stages that these simple
monuments will take to be built. Gather as many trees
as you can and toss them into the monument construction
area. If enough trees are added, usually 10, to the
construction area they will work even quicker, and a
steam hammer sound will be added to the sounds of their
working. After the steam hammer sound has been
accomplished you can then go to the other villages
without worrying about returning.

Go between these monument building projects to help
them, by putting more trees in the monument building
area. Remember not to remove too many trees from near
the people's homes or their homes will disappear and
they will abandon the monument building to make their
houses again, (or simply abandon the village all
together) and the monument building area will
eventually destroy itself if the houses need to be built.

If you hurry the all four monuments can be built in
the first day. Remember to destroy the Starting
island's monument (by becoming Hate Giant, and
touching it) as the games end day music begins to
play and the people have gone to sleep. You should
still have the "tree paradise" (group of 10 trees)
where the monument was. As long as you return to the
game within 30 minutes, or within another game's day,
the tree paradise will still be there, if you return
Later then this simply set the 64DD's time one year
earlier then the last time you played, this will cause
the game to be continued almost as if you had just
left. (To change time see the last item in the "Nice
things to know" section.) Move the houses, and other
things of the Yellow villagers into the desert area,
or simply destroy them as Hate Giant, so they won't
have them when the next day starts.

!!! Warning if you destroy the monument too soon, they will
rebuild it and they will continue it the next day, and won't
give out the hearts you'll need to grow bigger, and trees
won't be as easy to grow from because there won't be as
many large groups of them around!!!

Day 2 and 3
If you've finished a day, and haven't been back to your 64DD
for 30 minutes, a day will have passed in the games world,
and some changes good or bad will have taken place while
you where away, to avoid these changes, reset the 64DD's
time to before you last played and the game will continue
as it would have if you had began playing from a few
minutes ago. The changes that occur doing the time you
were away are randomly decided by the game as you start
a new day.

When you start a new day, from here onward, until the Babel
Tower is made, each day there is a animated scene of the
island, sun and Doshin standing up on the island. Save at the
Beginning of each day after the animated scene, to have a
place to reset if a disaster occurs, also save after each
time you Grow.

If you ended the previous day correctly you'll have a tree
paradise, where the monument was. If you destroyed all the
houses and built things some of the villagers probably left
the village go find them along the coast line and bring them
back and set them near the other people, move the trees away
from these people as they begin to try building something.
They will then ask for a tree and you can set one near them,
and then they will send out hearts as you drop it. Make
sure you place it away from them enough so you can pick it
up easily, and you can pick it up again and drop it again,
over and over again, causing them to release hearts again
and again and you'll be able to grow larger. (As you pick
up the tree as soon as it leaves the ground release the
button to drop it rather then throwing it, this way you
don't have to walk after it.)

If you begin getting low on trees, lift what they build to
find a box, after they've built four things and you've
lifted them all, toss them into an area of the island that
doesn't have any trees, and they will eventually fall into
rune, (or you can turn to Hate Giant by pressing the
'R' button, if you wish to change back press the 'R' button
again) [You can also simply toss the building onto another
building] and destroy them so they will build them again,
however on other days after Day 1 this many times will cause
a natural disaster) continue this until you have enough
trees, and hearts to grow to full height, then quickly go
to the red village and bring back one of there villagers to
this yellow village. As soon as you've brought the red
villager two of the flags will turn to red, now allow them
to build their things without destroying them. Remembering
to place the trees where mentioned before so you won't
have to return.

The following is what should be done on this second day, by
taking one person of that color and bringing it to the
village mentioned.

Red to Yellow village (Make sure to walk at least half way
into the start island before dropping the red person, or he
won't be accepted in the new village and want to try get
back to his red village.) A person must be taken far enough
from his home village before he will join a new village.

Red to Green village

Blue to Red village

Yellow to Blue village

Generally these monument take about 25 minutes, to complete,
so unless you've gotten to your full height in under a few
minutes and visited all 4 villages, it'll take you two days
to complete them. To get Steam hammer sound you still have
to fill the small center area with trees as you did before,
however when the second stage of building is begun you can't
toss the trees into the center, and you'll have to grow big
in order to get the steam hammer sound again, if enough
trees hadn't been placed there the day before.

The monument will be standing at the other villages, and as you
drop off the new villager destroy the monument. (To destroy
a building or monument take it outside of town toss it down
and turn to Hate giant and destroy it, this allows you to
avoid the natural disasters that usually accompanies
the hate skulls the people give. (Unlike the Game Cube
version of this game it appears natural disasters where
linked to hate skulls of the villagers, causing you to
have to find other ways to do things without being cruel
to the villagers.)

If a monument is still standing and you bring a new color,
to the village, the flags won't change color until you
destroy the monument, by changing to Hate Giant and touching
it, you can also pick up the monument as Love Giant and take
it far away from the island, and Destroy it there, and he
flags will change to the proper colors of the people of the
village, and the villagers will began building again.

If you pick up a monument, take it out of a village and
drop it in a new place, you'll see that eventually after
you've gotten far enough from the village and dropped it,
it's usual marker on the map might not show the monument
at the village you just left but in the new location, this
mean that this new location is were another village can be
started if you like. This is a great way to find places to
start new villages if you want to see how many different
villages you can make on Barudo Island. The strategy guide
for the game has a map with 37 villages marked and it says
"Barudo Island Perfect Map" and so I assume this is the
maximum number of villages you can make.

After you destroy a monument or houses you might find that
some of the people have abandoned the village and they
will be walking along the edge of the island, you can
return the person to the Village or let them wander
the island.

If you get some spare time from helping the people build
the monuments bring as many of the red people as you can
(without removing 2 or three, from the red town, if too
many people are missing the rest of the villagers might
leave) to the Yellow village, this will make it easier
the next day to grow big with hearts because there will
be more people here.

If you destroy the monument first and then you go to get
another member of a different tribe, they usually start
another monument by the time you get back and it'll be the
same one, and you'll have to destroy it again.

You can also pick up and move the members of a tribe in that
village and carry them away to remove them from the village
and in that way change the tribes of the village without
having to start another village, or without having to step
on them and squish someone.

Move these people to the suggested villages, and help them
as you did the day before Red, Yellow; Red, Green; Red, Blue;
and Yellow, Blue monuments will be built.

!!! As with the other days Destroy the Monument at the
Starting Island as the end day music plays, in this way,
you can start the next day by getting hearts and gathering
trees together from the boxes under the houses and grow to
full height quickly!!! It might also be useful to use the
"Day off, Skip Days cheat" as described in the Introduction.

Day 4 and 5

Start the day as before and grow to full height using hearts
from the people at the start island and trees they leave
under their houses, as before (see day 2,for better
description of) but instead take the following people and
add them or remove them from the villages.

Blue to Yellow Village, (red will still be there)

Green to Red Village, (blue will still be there)

Yellow to Green Village, (red will still be there)

Green to Blue village, (yellow will still be there)

Generally these monument take an entire day, minus about from
sun up to sun down, to complete, so unless you've gotten
everything prepared the day before it'll take more then
one day to complete. To get Steam hammer sound you still
have to fill the small center area with trees as you did
before, however when the second stage of building is begun
you can't toss the trees into the center, and you'll have
to grow big in order to get the steam hammer sound again,
if enough trees hadn't been placed there the day before.

If done properly you the following monuments; Red,Blue,Yellow;
Red,Blue,Green; Red,Yellow,Green, and Blue,Yellow,Green will be built.

!!! As with the other days Destroy the Monument at the
Starting Island as the end day music plays, in this way,
you can start the next day by getting hearts and gathering
trees together from the boxes under the houses and grow
to full height quickly!!! It might also be useful to use
the "Day off, Skip Days cheat" as described
in the Introduction.

Day 6 and 7

Start the day as before and grow to full height using
hearts from the people at the start island and trees they
leave under their houses, as before (see day 2,for better
description of) but instead take the following people and
add them or remove them from the villages.

Blue Village remove yellow (keep Green) Blue, Green Monument

Green Village remove red (Keep Yellow) Green, Yellow Monument

Bring Yellow to Red Village, to (red, blue, and green
will still be there). All Colors Monument

Day 8 and 10

Start the day as before and grow to full height using hearts
from the people at the start island and trees they leave
under their houses, as before (see day 2,for better
description of) but instead take the following people and
add them or remove them from the villages.

Yellow Village. Any Colors, Builds Babel Tower/Monument
Cannot be stared when others are under construction, must
wait until Others are completed before beginning. It might
also be useful to use the "Day off, Skip Days cheat" as
described in the Introduction.

As soon as this Babel Tower Monument is complete the
Ending Scene will begin, and the credits will roll, for
the continuation of walk through and for a description
of Ending see, the section "The End And What Comes After."

of the giant be ended

All things being equal, this shape isn't possible to keep

The life-span of a tree is only for a certain time.

Again the if the giant shows up for the current
morning growing larger he will have to start over

The tree's energy is the home of the tree,
that is the rule

The tree's life-span is a life-span of about
2.3 days, their life-span doesn't whether if
it's it holds on.

When there are no tree soil, the soil is only ground.

Disaster safety settled people's love then returns

Special boxes contents are helpful

From the box it comes out but the reason I don't know

The giant on the grounds surface can increase
it's thickness or lower, it's his nature his power

With either spectacle the giant can change

With less energy on soiled ground a disastrous
will occur

A harmful disaster was brought to life

A fire mountain eruption! It is a pulsating of
the grounds surface

Roaring fire rising up, is occurring

Harmful Disaster naturally disappears

And then the Naughties! People's wants for new
items changes them

One head, one head trample onto

A mountain and river, form a harmful disaster, the
village is defended. For harmful disaster this is the rule

Water for fire advancing this put a stop to, water
it is imperative to have as much as possible.

Mountains and rivers for the harmful disaster, put
a stop to them

This current ground areas is having a gathering of
overpowering rain! Ground from the rain begins to
sink, notice this!

With becoming larger, the rain clouds can be defeated!

Water near a tree is difficult

Memorable photographs can be saved with <L button>

As for the character of the giant it seems like.

People can ride with him, as a god they think of him

The boxes for the giant are sometimes missed, sometimes
there are empty ones of these

Moving and moving, walking it seems your always doing

It's a tornado! Everything will be tossed upward!

The Tornado, with a mountain it can't pass without
hardship

The body of a Tornado can be pushed away.

When not together love of the people will defend
and safeguard them

Living quietly they are also watched over

It's the nature of nature a splendid power that
compares to him

The various colors are the different tribes

The sea is what the island is made from, as much as
you can want

Leaving the scenery you can move when glaring ahead,
this memory can be photographed to commemorate it

People's written record is done, when the island's
entire body is saved

When people meeting is tiring at the village, to leave
the playing is good. Of the scenery's colors,
photographs can be taken

Every time the giant leaves the people, they think of
the giant and talking begins

People, to think of you in a good way, is also important

Well your feet should be mindful

Easy it is to get the Giant angry! You can use the
characters view of the giant. (When hateful the giant is)
when only breaking and destroying, he can't posses anything

As you remember it, it is almost the same

The sun is sinking, another time it will come again
sooner or later

This morning the giant from the sea he came

This evening the giant's footsteps become heavy
with the sun his feet become heavy

The spirit of hate you have left for them, by the way

People are sure to repeat the rumors of others

Sincerely agreeable, Sincerely agreeable

(H) The End And What Comes After.
<!!!Warning Spoliers!!!>

Once you have made all 15 regular monuments the next will
be the Babel's Tower, once it is completed the screen will
fade to black, then a animated scene will appear.

The ground begins to shake, and boxes begin to fall near
the tower. Pieces of rubble begin falling from the tower,
the ground breaks open up and water flows upward. People
run away through the village as a tree fall. The tower and
island begin to sink straight down, as the tower disappears
below the water the screen fades to white. There is then a
zoomed in picture of what is left of the island, it is in
the shape of Doshin. The island fades into a symbol with
Doshin with a red circular background. The staff names and
their jobs slide from the right to the center of the screen,
then wiggle a bit and slide left as the symbol above spins
round. It will then bring you to the Title Screen, select
games beginning as usual to start playing again, and you
will now be on the Doshin shaped Island. If you press reset
during the credits the game will still start you on
Doshin Island.

Doshin Island
<Sodoru is not on Doshin Island, he disappeared with
Bald Island, you will not hear his or the woman's voice
while playing, however you still hear her voice in
Doshin's Sleeping area.>

The island is shaped like Doshin, (in the game cube version
it is shown as the body of the last Doshin as the island
sank). The trees are a bit bigger and fluffier, and the
boxes are now clear crystals with a '?' or heart, skull,
or tree in them, there doesn't appear to be boxes with people
in them from under buildings or man made structures, boxes
with people only seem to fall from the sky. When you start
you have to walk around and raise or lower the land until
"Crystals" with "?" fall with people in them. Remember to
save before opening the '?' boxes so you can quickly get
people on your island, if a person doesn't come out of the
box, press rest and open the box again, wait a few seconds
in between tries so the contents randomly continue to
change before opening it. (Think of Mario Kart and the
crystal in it, and how the boxes crystals contents quickly
alternate until you open it.) The boxes usually drop from
the sky a few times when raising the land in the Tummy
area of the island. You will need to raise the land from
the water in the center of Doshin's tummy area, this is
the only place a the islanders will build a monument.
They will also only settle into villages in 7 places
on this new map.

1 Doshin's Head
2 Doshin's Left Arm
3 Doshin's Right Arm
4 Doshin's Tummy
5 Doshin's Waist
6 Doshin's Left leg
7 Doshin's Right Leg

If one monument is built in the tummy area you have to take
it to another village area, and set it down there before
another monument will be built. The same "Condo Type"
monument will always be built no matter which color
villagers are in the tummy area village. This is needed for
the companion game "Doshin the Giant, Rescue from the Front,"
what until the end of the day and save that way to make it
be acknoleged for "Doshin Resuce from the Front", if you
start another day in Doshin 1, you'll need to end it this
way for the "Doshin, Rescue" to acknolege it. The Map will
show the monuments only at the villages and not anywhere
else, so if you pick up a monument from the tummy area and
leave it some where besides a village, the map will still
show that it is at the tummy villages location, only when
the monument is set at another village will the Map show
that the monument has been moved. Once the map shows the
monument is no longer in the tummy area, you can take it
from which ever village you brought it to and place it out
of the way if you want. More then one monument can be put
in the same village but after a while you'll have to choose
another village to bring them to, because the Map won't
show it being moved to that village anymore, for some
reason. I've gotten to about 23 monuments before giving
up, there doesn't seem to be a second ending or finish to
the Doshin Island other then Resetting the game and
deleting the saved data so you can start over.

The game continues without change from this point onwards,
keep bringing the monuments to the other villages and you
can keep building them.

For a different task try to build the entire Island into
one gigantic mountain, by raising all the ground as far
as it will go. This is some thing even I haven't be able
to complete, before I got tired of it, and resetted the
game and wished to try something else. For a slightly
easier task try sink the oceans floor to it's farthest
depths, this is easiest when on the Doshin Island. Build
a island at the start pole surrounded by water, to keep
the villagers from leaving. After enough villagers have
been gathered here, you can change from Love Giant to
Hate Giant, gathering love, hate at a quick rate, walk
away from the village and return if needed to gather only
love or hate, by Changing and walking back to the Village.
Keep the village separated from the main land, and avoid
losing the people by a natural disaster. The people when
lost will travel to the upper left hand of the map, try
to keep a path to this corner of the map.
