Autodesk® Remote is a stand-alone application for Microsoft Window 7 and 8 and is compatible with all Autodesk products. It lets you drive Autodesk software installed on your primary computer from a remote computer for fast access to native design data over standard networks. To use it, simply install Autodesk Remote on the PC you want to share. Install it again on the machine you want to connect from and start your connection.

Autodesk Remote also has a companion iPad application for Autodesk® Inventor®, Autodesk® Revit®, and Autodesk® Maya. Autodesk Remote requires that you have a Subscription account that is associated with an Autodesk product. Remote is dependent on availability bandwidth and connectivity. Depending on your local infrastructure, your performance may vary.

 

We are continually updating the application to address connectivity issues as we encounter new network environments and firewalls. If you encounter persistent connectivity issues we encourage you to post to the Autodesk Remote Forum so our technical team can identify if the problem is specific to your network environment or firewall, and so they can fix the issue.

    I am testing it and found some kinks; 1) Master PC must have a a better than average video card else the slave PC looks and acts choppy. 2) The slave PC video viewport does not match to the requested video viewport you requested in the log in. 3) you can not stretch the slave viewport. 4) I do not see anything other than a dam iPad for use remotely which is bad since a very large portion of CAD, Inventor, Revit users are PC people NOT Apple. I would really love to see expansion toward multiple tablet formats so a team could go into a facility and do th ework on the spot and not have to take notes then come back to draw at the desk.     Haven't tried it yet, but has anyone tried being productive with Autodesk Inventor on an iPad (i.e., constructing a large assembly model, without use of a mouse), and if so, what were the results?

    Ron, thank you for your question. The iPad application was designed for navigation primarily by mapping common touch gestures to viewing operations, such as cameral operations. For design work I would suggest using the PC client.

    Better than Windows Remote Desktop. This has a lot of potential and I hope Autodesk takes this seriously and keeps making quick improvements. My one big complaint is that it only has iPad support. I really want to see support for Win8 platforms!

    A new release of Autodesk Remote was published last week that addresses connectivity issues. Although your issue may be related to the log-in process. In which case please check the date/time on your system before logging in. There is a time sync between the servers and the local machine that may invalidate the certificate for login.

    Looks promising. But as soon as I got the remote PC connection I was at a login window. With no way to forward the 'ctrl+alt+del' keys (my local machine intercepts those keystrokes) I couldn't log in.

    A new release of Autodesk Remote was published, please download and try the new version. After you log-in you should see a button for login. If you are missing this button for any reason you can use CTRL+SHIFT+DEL instead of the ctrl+alt+del. There should have been a popup in the lower left corner instructing you on the alternate method for login.

    Please try the latest version of Autodesk Remote, this will re-register your systems once you upgrade. If you clear the host machine again and it doesn't re-register itself after a few minutes go to the host and turn off sharing, then turn it back on. If the problem persists, make sure you are using the same Autodesk Subscription account on both computers.

    Thanks for the feedback. The response to Autodesk Remote has been so enthusiastic that our servers are lagging. If you're having difficulty downloading, installing the app from the Exchange Apps Store, or connecting, please wait a few minutes and try again. We also realize that dual monitors are common; Dual Monitor support is in the works! We also realize that our users are seeking a solution across all our applications for the iPad. At this time, The iPad app is only compatible with Autodesk Inventor. We do not recommend using it with other Autodesk applications yet since gestures aren't supported in any application except Inventor.

    This software would work well in a single display environement, even when it says my computer is experiencing a heavy load, it is quite responsive. However, every CAD station at my company runs Dual Monitors if not Tri Monitors. There is absolutely no way to switch between the monitors, and this is a big problem in my environment.

    Do you mean Revit 2014 or Revit 2015? 2014 certainly does NOT support multiple monitors in any meaningful way. If 2015 does then that's very good news.

    The multiple monitor support is for Autodesk Remote. This will allow users to either switch between monitors while in a session or stream both monitors into separate windows on the PC.

    Crashed on install on plain vanilla Win7 I7 computer built specifically to run Inventor Ultimate Suite that is used to VPN into corporate Vault and run Inventor locally. Reported to not support multiple monitors. I haven't seen a single monitor cad system in years. I'll wait a while to see if it matures.

    ADR is "simply another entry" into the field where join.me, TeamViewer, RDC, PCA and other remote applications already exist. With a lack of "full screen" like RDC over the LAN, and a latency that matches RDC, I'm underwhelmed. The distinct advantage this product holds is the IT deployment factor. IT will not need to deal with an additional vendor, and it might be easier to keep operators from going "rogue" with their own remote applications. For the record, I use TeamViewer because it's cross-platform and supports full screen. If PCoIP were open-sourced (and didn't require special hardware), then everyone could play with super-low latency, a la Terridici cards.

    it gets disconnected every few seconds.... looks like a rebranding of teamviewer to me with really bad connection. Teamviewer actually works fine for me and never crashes or hang at all

    It probably works well for a single monitor environment, but all of our CAD stations are dual monitor systems and it doesn't appear you can display both screens at the same time or even toggle between them. Also, it reset the host computers resolution which caused the desktop icons to be re-arranged and the Command Line & other palettes that were on the second monitor were also moved around (oddly enough not so they could be views on the primary monitor). Is a little "laggy", but no more than any other remote control software I have used. Very interested to see what Autodesk does with this software, could be a great tool for users!

    James, We have released a new version of Autodesk Remote that supports Multi-Monitor environments and Revit 2014. Please give the latest version a try. As for the resizing the screen, this is done to provide the maximum screen size on the client machine. You can over-ride the size of the screen connection with the dropdown at the top of the window on the PC. The iPad client doesn't have an over-ride and will always force a resize.

    When installing it Killed my Nvidia Drivers Error 3. Killed Revit in that process. Then I could not access it as it says I do not have subscription benefit on my account , however I am able to access all other services .

    Is actually a great RDP software for logging into my work computer from home when in a pinch. Works way better than other solutions on the market and very happy it is included with my subscription!
