Anchor-turned-actress
Anasuya Bharadwaj, who had contested in the elections to become a Member of the
Executive Council (EC) raised questions about the integrity of the counting procedure after losing the polls. Incidentally,
Anasuya was shown to be leading by a big margin on Sunday and some TV channels had even declared her as the winner. However, when the final tally of votes were counted, it turned out that the actress had lost the election."Yesterday they said Anasuya got a ‘huge majority' and now they are saying 'lost'. What happened overnight? Just asking," she tweeted, adding, "To count just 600 votes polled, what's the need to postpone counting by a day? I don't understand the logic."
The actress went on to state that she will no longer be associated with
MAA politics. "With politics, you are not allowed to be honest. I don’t have time to deal with that. I would rather work with kids,” she wrote.
