UNIX International Inc. and UNIX System Laboratories Inc. say the initial release of standard multiprocessing features of the UNDC System V Release 4 operating system is now available to the computer industry through UI's "Early Access" program. The program gives Ul members a jump on getting new products to market in less time by allowing access to the ongoing development version of the operating system. This shortens time between actual release of the enhanced operating system and release of member products, and speeds up end user use of receipt technology. The key feature of the new SVR4 release is support for fully symmetric multiprocessing - that is, the use of multiple microprocessors in one computer system to speed up computation and communications. …
