Hi,

Whenever I try to play a quickmatch, I always find that someone leaves the
game basically as soon as the game has started.
This pi**es me off, wondered if anyone else was having the same prob.

nope, never happened to me, but then again, I usually leave the game as
soon as it starts ...

Sometimes. I can imagine that someone who plays a lot of matches on one
evening, doesn't want to play the same map three times in a row. So he
blows his base and tries another quickmatch.
I myself have done it several times when I noticed I was on naval maps.

When people check my rank beforehand, they often do this. It's getting
out before the three minute limit, so the game doesn't count. People do
this if they don't like the maps (usually because they suck and will
only play maps they've practiced over and over again). It's pretty
annoying to have your time wasted incessantly, but it was implemented
for an escape if you end up playing a game that you accidentally sell
your con yard at the beginning or end up being matched against an
obvious map reveal cheater. Also, some people have all their units blow
up when the game starts because they need to reinstall their software
(it's happened to me and others on this board).

There can be other reasons also:

There are a few maps I do not like and quit if I find myself on
them.

If I find my opponent is Yuri and there's water linking us I
quit. There's no real defense against the boomer in the early game.

There have been a couple of times I knew I had lost within the 3
minutes (small map with plenty of oil--and he got it all). I suspect
I was up against a map cheater in those cases but I'm not sure.

So learn to play them, instead of wasting other peoples' time!

Then go back to RA2, and don't waste other peoples' time! Also, see the
"learn to play" comment above.

Now THAT is something I agree with. Map reveal trainer users really
shit me in tournament games.

You have just worn out your welcome in this newsgroup.

<PLONK>

(I advise everybody to do the same, unless you're willing to listen to
this persons unargumented whining)

Ok, what's a *REASONABLE* counter to a boomer rush? Sure, decent
anti-air will shred those missiles, but spending the money on decent
anti-air that early is devastating to your economy.
