Goku’s Return to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is confirmed by Dragon Ball

Funimation assisted in the development of a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade float for Son Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form, to assist in promoting the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The balloon has become a dream for many anime fans since its debut in 2018.

Funimation helped promote the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade float for Son Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form, in promoting the release of the fan-favorite film. The balloon was first introduced in 2018, and it has become a dream come true for many anime fans, which helps bridge the gap between a major event in North America and one of the biggest characters in Shonen history, and it appears like Goku will be making a comeback this Thanksgiving as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade confirms that the Saiyan will return to the festivities.

Jordan Dabby, Macy’s Parade Group Vice President of Partnership Marketing, first introduced the Goku Balloon and how he was far different from the other floats that were featured during the Thanksgiving Day Parade:

“Everything about him is different from the typical character you see in the Parade. The concept of Goku is distinct. His hair is distinct. It’s extremely difficult to balloon and make it human, but he has this body definition that few characters have. When you get into aerodynamics, you’ll find something unusual. If we were to eliminate the gaps in his hair, it wouldn’t look like Goku. We’ve spent a lot of time getting his hair pointed as we can to get away with while also keeping it upright as it should.”

Tanooki Kuribo, Twitter user, posted an update from Toei Animation that Goku will return to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a Super Saiyan Blue look before Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero: a new chapter in Dragon Ball Super’s movie lineup in next year’s Super Hero: Super Hero:

It is currently unknown if the Dragon Ball universe will be added to the annual parade, though we would imagine that fans would love to see Vegeta, the Prince of the Saiyans, appearing alongside his eternal rival. Needless to say, we expect so many more non-anime fans to be confused as Son Goku returns to the parade full with a slew of legends from the pop culture world.

What do you think of the Son Goku Balloon being sent home just in time for Thanksgiving?
