Day Charter Public School was founded by a group of staff, parents and
board members from Community Day Care, Inc., a private,
non-profit corporation whose mission it is to provide child
care, teacher training and parent education and support for the
North Shore and Merrimack Valley regions of Massachusetts. Beginning in 1969, Community Day Care has developed programs
of early education and professional development with a strong
emphasis on serving Latino populations. Community Day Care is
hired by the board of Community Day Charter Public School to manage the
school. Collaboration
between the community based, private non-profit organization
(CDC) and the public school (CDCPS) has been a successful one
resulting in strong organizational support for the school and
educational opportunity for the families of Community Day Care.

Message from Geoffrey Bruno, Head of the Upper School
I am thrilled to serve our school community as the Head of
the Upper School and to be a part of such a close-knit,
hard-working, and supportive family of students, parents,
and faculty members. 5th through 8th grade students
continue to build on the solid academic foundation they
received as part of the lower school, and move on to
consistently exceed the rigorous academic standards set
for them by the upper school staff. Our teachers work
tirelessly, revising and improving upon curriculum,
insisting every student meet the highest academic
standards without excuse, adjusting to meet the needs of
every child, and reaching out to families to ensure a
close connection between school and home. Students, staff,
and families also get involved in many after-school,
extracurricular activities including athletics (charter league basketball, flag-football,
soccer, track), violin, drama, and chess. I feel confident
that as they stand at their 8th grade graduation, CDCPS students are ready to take on any challenge: in high
school and beyond.

Message
from Leigh Doherty, Head of the Lower School
As the Head of the Lower School
of the Community Day Charter Public School, I am
fortunate to be an integral part of a community with
a strong sense of identity. It is a community that
consistently demonstrates a commitment to the
mission statement of the school. This includes
working together as a community of professionals who
always strive for the very best in practice. It also
involves working together with the students to reach
high levels of achievement as well as working
together with the families of the CDCPS students to
strengthen the support networks.
At Community Day Charter Public
School we are committed to understanding varied
learning styles. We are dedicated to meeting the
needs of all students.
As educators our expectations of ourselves
are high and, likewise, we also have high
expectations of our students. We believe in them,
which encourages them to thrive. Our program
consists of a standard based curriculum, English
immersion, early literacy efforts, arts programs and
a stringent code of conduct.
Together we have created a safe and
supportive environment where students blossom and
achieve personal and academic goals. We are so
proud, and we have 306 (our enrollment figure)
reasons to be proud!
