About The World of Commodore
The Toronto PET User's Group (TPUG) is pleased to announce The World of Commodore. At this year's Expo...
  • Jim Butterfield Memorial: There will be a small tribute and viewing of the DVD from the memorial held September 22 at the Naval Club Of Toronto. Any cards, etc will be delivered to the family at the conclusion of the weekend.

    Also, TPUG is collecting and invites others to send in a DVD/MPEG of memories of Jim or past tapings of his presentations, to be edited into a tribute. These need to be in early if to be edited into and made available for viewing at WOC.

     
  • Information about all makes of Commodore computers will be available. Events will focus on the Commodore 64/128.
     
  • Demonstrations of novel hardware and software projects using Commodore equipment.
     
  • Hardware/software vendors showcasing the latest hardware and software available for Commodore computers, as well as classic accessories, applications and games!
     
  • Screenings of Commodore related videos.
     
  • A weekend of discussions and fun with the Commodore user community.
     
  • Raffle prizes.
     
  • The very popular freebie table! Please feel free to drop off any items you no longer want and help yourself to some goodies. You never know what you'll find!
Schedule
Everyone should plan to attend for all of Saturday. There will be a welcoming event on Friday evening and discussions and socializing on Sunday so please, feel free to make a weekend of it.

Friday:

  • 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM - Welcoming event at the hotel and vendor load-in/setup.

Saturday:

  • 10:00 AM - Doors open and Vendor tables ready for shopping.
     
  • 10:15 AM - Opening remarks from TPUG.
     
  • 10:30 AM - DEMO: The VIC20 Multicart Project (Brian Lyons)
     
  • 11:30 AM - DEMO: Synth 2007 and the history of Synth Sample (Georg Feil)
     
  • 12:00 PM - DEMO: Secret hardware project (Francois Levielle)
     
  • 12:45 PM - Lunch Break (food will be available at the event).
     
  • 2:00 PM - GUEST SPEAKER: Syd Bolton, Curator of the Personal Computer Museum
     
  • 3:00 PM - DEMO: The FB MIDI Interface for the Commodore 64 (James Long)
     
  • 4:00 PM - TUTORIAL: Copy Protection on the Commodore 64 (Glenn Holmer)
     
  • 5:00 PM - TUTORIAL: Internet Technology for the Commodore 64 (Leif Bloomquist)
     
  • 6:00 PM - GUEST SPEAKER: Karl Hildon, Editor of Transactor Magazine, on the life of Jim Butterfield
     
  • 6:30 PM - RAFFLE
     
  • 6:45 PM - Break for Dinner (Expo Doors will be locked)
     
  • 7:00 PM - Dinner at The Grille (Show rate: $25 Taxes & Gratuity included).
     
  • 8:30 PM - Expo Doors re-open
     
  • 8:45 PM - DVD PRESENTATION: Jim Butterfield's talks at past Expos.
     
  • 10:00 PM - Official event wrap-up, with socializing continuing until late at the hotel.
     

Coffee, pop, juice, and water will be available at the event all day.

Sunday:

  • 10:00 AM - Round-table discussion, future plans, and further socializing at The Grille
Admission

Admission to the World of Commodore is as follows:

TPUG members: Individual $5  Family $10  
Non-members: Individual $15  Family $20 

Vendor tables (8' x 3') are $15 for the first table and $10 for each additional table.  Smaller individual tables (3' x 3') are $5.

All amounts are stated in Canadian dollars.

Location
The World of Commodore Expo will be held at the Alderwood United Church, located at 44 Delma Drive (click for map) which is south of Sherway Gardens and west of Browns Line. Exit the QEW or southbound 427 to Evans Avenue, turn south at the lights onto Gair Drive and follow Gair to Delma Drive. The church is a twenty minute drive (approximately) from Pearson International Airport or downtown Toronto.

The World of Commodore is also easily accessible by public transit. The TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) offers rapid and reliable service. Take the 123 Shorncliffe South bus which departs the Kipling subway station every twenty minutes (check the TTC's schedule for up-to-date information) and can drop you off on Evans at Gair. The trip takes between ten and fifteen minutes and the driver will announce the stop upon request. From there it is a five to ten minute walk to the Alderwood United Church.

Pre-registration
Please pre-register so that we may plan for your arrival, and a speedy entry into the show. You may  pre-register by simply emailing your name to woc@tpug.ca .  Vendors and demonstrators should use the detailed registration form template.
