The use of nickel has been largely limited to the nickel steel industry but since the discovery of new application of nickel for improving the properties of cast iron, the demand for nickel has greatly increased.
Monel metal is also now being used not only as an acid and corrosion resistant alloy but for architectural supplies and household utensiles.
I wish to describe here briefly the origin of nickel are and its smelting process of the sulphide are produced at a Canadian Mine.
The smelting processes of Nickel are classified roughly as follows:
(1) Orford Process.
(2) Mond Process.
(3) Hybinette Process.
In this report, the outline of the above methods is described together with the fact that the monel metal is smelted as a natural alloy from the Canadian are by the Orford Process.
