Right-back Lee Hodson has signed a new two-year contract with MK Dons.

The former Watford defender, 23, only made 16 appearances last season following a number of injuries and his contract was due to end in June.

"It's a chance to play Championship football again," he told the promoted club's website., external

"I'm sure every player at the club wanted to take that next step up to this level and I'm no different. I'm really looking forward to next season."

Hodson, who played in the Championship with Watford, added: "Last year wasn't great because of the injuries but, with this new deal, I can work to get back as fit as possible and give it a right go."

Following a loan spell with Brentford, Hodson joined MK Dons in 2013.

"Lee had a difficult time last season with injuries but he proved when he was available what a quality player he is," said manager Karl Robinson.

"He played over 80 games in the Championship during his time with Watford so he knows what it takes to compete at that level."
