Lens Distortion Rollout (Physical Camera)

Lets you add distortion effects to the rendering.

Distortion Type group
  • None (The default.) No distortion is applied.
  • Cubic When nonzero, distorts the image. Positive values introduce pincushion distortion; negative values introduce barrel distortion.

In pincushion distortion, the greater the distance from the center of the image, the more lines warp inward toward the center. Pincushion distortion also vignettes the image.

In barrel distortion, typical of zoom lenses, the greater the distance from the center of the image, the more lines warp away from it.

Left: No distortion; Middle: Cubic Distortion = 0.14; Right: Cubic Distortion = –0.14

  • Texture Distorts the image based on a texture map. Click the button to open the Material/Map Browser and assign the map.

The red component of the image distorts the image along the X axis, and the green component distorts the image along the Y axis; the blue component is ignored.
