The functional definition of human beings as time-binders, formulated here for the first time, established a new, larger common denominator for mutual understanding and made possible Korzybski's positive workable theory for cooperation among people.

Instead of the animalistic, ruthless tooth-and-claw "survival of the fittest," the "natural law" for humans becomes "survival of the fittest-in-time," a foundation for a new, workable ethics.
