Ayan Mukerji, who is excited about his film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which releases today (31st May) talks to us about his journey in Bollywood, his camaraderie with his father and the relationship between Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor.
On being asked about his relationship with his father, Ayan said, "My relationship with my father has been very instrumental in the person I have become. He is a very big influence in my life. He was an obsessed father and in a part he was my mother."
When asked about his inspiration to make films, Ayan claimed that being Mukerji's son didn't make his access to big people easy. "I wanted to work in Bollywood. My grand father was a great figure, but my father's generation everyone couldn't do well. It wasn't like being Rishi Kapoor's son. I didn't have access to big people," said Ayan.
"While growing up there was nothing like Mukerji's son for me which promoted me. Our industry doesn't work on success few years back. Eventually everyone had their own destiny. I am proud of my family, but I don't particularly feel lucky," added Ayan.
"I am as a film maker. When you make a film and when you making a second film the baggage of your first film comes and I think my interest in cinema is far larger than what I have done in my first film," the new age director asserted.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has grabbed attention as Ranbir and Deepika will be seen in on-screen after their break-up. However, Ayan has no issues about it. "If audiences come to watch the film because of them I will be very happy. I really respect them and feel good about them," said Ayan.
On asked about their relation, Ayan said, "We are new generations and the fact that ex-lovers are able to look back at time and understand the difficulties. All the younger generation like Arjun Kapoor, Alia if they ever have an affair and able to step away from it and get on with it."
"The ice was broken and we started for shooting Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I, Ranbir and Deepika has sat down many times and things have been normal for a while. They are good friends; they can chat and speak to each other now," concluded Ayan.
