History of the Group
Established in 1978
The Group of Thirty, established in 1978, is a private, nonprofit, international body composed of very senior representatives of the private and public sectors and academia. It aims to deepen understanding of international economic and financial issues, to explore the international repercussions of decisions taken in the public and private sectors, and to examine the choices available to market practitioners and policymakers.
Meetings of the Group of Thirty
The Group's members meet in plenary sessions twice a year with select guests to discuss important economic, financial and policy developments. They reach out to a wider audience in seminars and symposia. Of most importance to our membership and supporters is the annual International Banking Seminar.
Special Reports
The Group of Thirty also enters the policy debate on important issues by publishing special reports. When the Group considers that its objectives would be furthered by more detailed work, it establishes study groups or committees, which may include both members and non-members, through our work program.
Recent Occasional Papers
Our publications began with our very first Occasional Paper in 1980, and continues to the present. The Group of Thirty has published more than eighty Occasional Papers on issues pertinent to international economics and finance. Areas of recent focus by our authors have included: financial reform, lessons from the financial crisis, the credit market, and stability and growth.
Special Thanks
The Board of Trustees, the Chairman, and the members of the Group of Thirty are extremely grateful for the support, monetary or in kind, of our contributors. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our current contributors and supporters who have helped make the Group of Thirty a successful institution through our thirty years of existence.
Staying Connected
In keeping with our mission, the Group of Thirty is constantly working to address the many issues facing both policymakers and market practicioners alike.
